Have you ever noticed that you get more annoying red bumps after a wax in July than you do in January? You’re not doing anything wrong. Your sweat glands are just throwing a pool party in your empty pores.

When it's hot, your sweat and oil glands get more active. When you get waxed your pores become vacant. When heavy sweat and oil mingle with the summer heat, the bacteria that's naturally found on the skin can get trapped inside. The result? Itchy skin and unwanted red bumps known as folliculitis.

To keep your skin smooth and save you from those itchy heat bumps, follow these 3 summer rules:

DON’T LEAVE IT BARE: Your skin needs protection after a wax. Without a lightweight barrier, bare skin rubbing against your clothing or other skin like the inner thighs and underarms creates friction that irritates the skin even more. Instead, apply a few drops of Fur Oil. It’s light, absorbs quickly without clogging your pores and reduces bacteria.

AVOID SWEATING & SHOWER IMMEDIATELY: Keep your skin cool! Wear loose, breathable clothing like a sundress or skirt to maximize airflow and avoid sweating in the first place. If you do sweat at all after your appointment, shower and rinse any waxed area with cool water. Don’t let salty sweat marinate on freshly waxed skin, that’s how you get bumps.

USE DIAPER CREAM FOR EMERGENCY FIX:
If you ignore my advice and those red bumps start flaring up, put on a thin layer of diaper rash cream. Zinc oxide will instantly calm inflammation and act as a protective barrier from further skin irritation.
