🙋🏻‍♀️ Before her diagnosis, Danielle had no idea that lipedema was the reason behind her pain, swelling, mobility struggles, and difficulty maintaining her weight despite her efforts.

She didn’t know there was a name for what she was experiencing or that treatment was possible. Today, after surgery, Danielle is living a life she once thought was out of reach.

She’s back to skateboarding, hiking, biking, and walking without pain. The constant aching in her limbs is gone. She sleeps better, has more energy, and finally feels at home in her body again.

Big news for the lipedema community! 💜

A major milestone has been reached: Lipedema ICD-10 codes have officially been accepted, marking an important step toward greater recognition, awareness, and improved access to care.

These codes are expected to become available by October 2027, helping healthcare providers better diagnose, document, and support individuals living with lipedema.

Progress like this happens because of years of advocacy, research, and the voices of patients around the world. While there is still work ahead, this is such a meaningful advancement for the future of lipedema care.

This Lipedema Awareness Month, we’re sharing the voices and stories of our patients, including a letter from Denise, written to the woman she was before diagnosis, and to every woman still searching for answers.

Denise spent years moving through misdiagnosis, self-blame, and shame before ever hearing the word Lipedema.

Restrictive diets and intense exercise never changed her body the way she was told they “should,” and she struggled with the emotional toll of feeling disconnected from herself for so long.

Receiving diagnosis brought something powerful: clarity. And with it, compassion. A new understanding that her body was not failing her, it had been asking for help all along. Today, she honors her legs for everything they have carried her through.
