This one I’m really proud of. I wasn’t taking on new clients and I specifically made an exception because I’ve been dreaming about the day that she would want to go brunette. We ran into eachother at the bar and she had me convinced. I mean who could say no? ⁣

If you’re confused, let me explain. ⬇️⁣

Back in the fall, when I needed to put in my letter of intent for , the space was bigger than I had wanted it to be. ⁣
⁣
But… it checked all my (very specific) boxes, and was too good to be true. In 30 seconds I went from saying no way in hell, to, holy s**t why don’t I open a photo studio with the extra space? ⁣
⁣
I had no idea what that would look like, but this is just the beginning of that unexpected business twin that came out of my first born 🥲 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 ⁣

As you all know, I take many photos with my friend ⁣
She’s somebody who has helped my appreciation for photography to blossom. ⁣
⁣
In this space, it will be a place for other creators to rent and just ✨𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦✨ ⁣
You will be able to customize your own set up for your photoshoot and truly let your mind run wild. ⁣
⁣
The name, comes from my favorite book as a kid. Watching it back as an adult, I resonate deeply with the main character. She sees the beauty in life, and wants others to believe in their potential as much as she does. She wants others to see that life is infinite and beautiful in the most unexpected of places. The fact that the studio is inside the salon, made the word secret feel like it fit perfectly. As for the word garden, do I even need to explain? Truly, I felt like I was given the formula for this success in mouse crumbs my whole life, up until this moment. To meeting Ruby, to falling in love with myself through photos, to maximizing my potential.⁣

I have so many photos waiting to be shared and half will probably never make it to the gram because my background will be subpar compared to what I’m about to get for my backgrounds. ⁣
⁣
I feel like I haven’t been working much since I’ve been behind the chair less but I’ve definitely been working. ⁣
⁣
My grow outs have been coming back looking snatched. ⁣
⁣
I will be on vacation in the middle/end of august so my schedule coming up is tight. I know there are some worried to go longer than usual, but as long as you do your part you should come back looking like this!

𝗟𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗹𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘂𝗽 ⁣

Who else is feeling the energetic shift going on? It’s so powerful it’s scary to me. I can feel what’s coming, I can feel the justified rage brewing in these women, these warriors. I can feel our ancestors raging from beyond. ⁣
⁣
I’ve been feeling so confused so lost so sensitive. My sleep has been failing, i’m having a harder time making healthy food choices, I’m constantly feeling dazed and confused. These changes in me happened quick. ⁣
⁣
If I’m being quite frank, it’s not me I’m scared for, because I know that among so many women, I do have more privilege. I am scared for what this will do to my sisters around the country. ⁣
⁣
If you’ve also been feeling the intense waves of energy, you’re being called to take a stand. Whether that means sharing 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 story or whatever it is you feel called to do, take hold of that small bit of courage and run with it. Share your stories with the close people in your life, share em on the internet, share em with strangers. If they don’t want us to be heard, we will 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘂𝘀. ⁣

Never do I ever speak politically on here, but this isn’t politics for me, this is an attack on women. I am about to open the most women friendly and considered salon. I am fiercely protecting these women and trying to create a safe haven for them to be themselves. I am thrilled to do so, but 𝘄𝗵𝘆 should it be 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 on other women, to be the ones to hold a safe space for women. Start demanding more support from those men in your lives too. Every small change, leads to bigger change. ⁣

There’s nothing better than knowing you helped create the feeling your client feels after a new install. ⁣
⁣
Through everything every woman who has been in my chair has been through, this might be the first moment they see themselves as beautiful. ⁣
⁣
The first big investment they are spending on themselves without having to feel guilt or shame for something maybe a past partner referred to as “frivolous”. ⁣
⁣
These are all just things I’ve seen and learned from having a varying degree of women in my chair. ⁣
⁣

𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 ⁣

During summer you might think you don’t need as much moisture, especially if you live somewhere so dry and cold in the winter. I’m here to say, 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘯. 😜 ⁣
⁣
There are so many contributing factors as to why you need more moisture in the summer. Here’s a few: ⁣
-sun exposure causing heat damage ⁣
-salt water causing dryness ⁣
-chlorine causing dryness ⁣
-driving with the windows down causing tangling/dryness ⁣
⁣
If you aren’t using a conditioning mask, you should be Atleast every other wash and condition. If you don’t have extensions, you should still be using a mask. If you do wear them, you 10000% should be using a mask. ⁣
⁣
When using a hair mask, this will take the place of your regular conditioner. My personal take on masks is I use them 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 than my regular conditioner. I wash my hair only once a week or less, so everytime I wash I use a mask. If I’m just getting my hair wet, that is when I’ll use just the regular conditioner. ⁣

Truly, I’m so blessed to get to work with the women I do. I’m forever impressed by the stories and the strength and resilience of all the women who grace my chair. ⁣
⁣
My chair has held so many women’s emotions, the good, the bad, the ugly. One thing I am an advocate for is women, and humans, showing up as they are. There’s nobody you need to impress when you come see me. There’s enough pressure on us, especially as women on the daily, and I want you to be able to let all that pressure go when you take a seat in my chair. I’m here to accept you and love on you for who you are. For all your sides. ⁣

I’ve been made to feel unloved for who I am by past coworkers and friends alike. Like who I am is the problem, not their perception of me. This past weekend I had such a refreshing time where I felt so beautiful not for my appearance but for my spirit and my mind and my authenticity. I was greatly appreciated for who I am 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯. The parts I’ve been made to feel I should shy from were embraced.⁣
⁣
Surrounding yourself with people who love you deeply for you is what makes people better. The more love in this world we can give builds others up to be the best versions of themselves. So as sticky and uncomfortable as some conversations can be, sometimes those are the healing conversations we need to have. ⁣
⁣
I promise to always be a place where you can show up as you are and I will love on you and all your awesomeness while I give you the hair of your dreams. Because I’m more than just a hairdresser. I’m an advocate for mental health, and I am a healer, and I am here for you. 💜 ⁣
