Session: Liquid Courage: Stepping Into Product Photography

When I first began exploring commercial product photography, I had more questions than answers. How do you find clients? How do you price commercial work? How do you light reflective glass? How do you create images that don’t just showcase a product—but actually help sell it?

This class is the one I wish I could have attended when I was getting started.

We’ll cover:
• Finding commercial product photography clients
• Pricing commercial work with confidence
• Planning a successful product shoot
• Building a commercial bottle set from scratch
• A live five-light bottle photography demonstration
• Tethering and my post-processing workflow

Most importantly, this isn’t about copying my style.

It’s about understanding why I make the creative decisions I do, so you can develop a commercial style that’s uniquely your own.

If time allows, attendees will even have the opportunity to photograph the completed setup and ask questions during an open Q&A.

One of the best parts of working in the spirits industry isn’t just the incredible bottles… it’s the people behind them.

Today I had the opportunity to attend the Sirens Happy Hour hosted by at .bar in New Orleans, and it was such a fun afternoon getting to meet (and finally hug!) so many of the women I’ve followed through social media for quite some time.

I’ve known for well over a decade, and she’s been such a wonderful connector in this industry. Through Sailor I met of As Above, So Below Distillery, whose beautiful Elvira Gin and Vodka I’ve had the pleasure of photographing.

For this hero shot of Toasted Barrel Bourbon, every styling element was chosen with intention. Toasted oak to echo the barrel. Butterscotch candies and buttery shortbread cookies to complement the whiskey’s flavor profile. Combined with dramatic lighting, the goal was to create an image that doesn’t just showcase the bottle—it invites you to imagine what’s in the glass.
