Our very own Living Well Health Clinic Prevention Partnership Coordinator, Marvin Cole-Crum, is this month's Employee Spotlight! 🏆💥💐
Marvin has been part of the AIDS Alabama family for nearly 10 years, joining the agency on July 18, 2016. In his role, he helps foster and strengthen community partnerships, supports the development of new prevention programs, and assists with the continued expansion of the Living Well Health Clinic.
When asked what advice he would give someone starting their career, Marvin shared:
"Listen to and follow your heart. Education and skill acquisition are some of the greatest tools you can acquire, but your heart and passion are the box that carries those tools."
One of the accomplishments Marvin is most proud of is serving in the Prevention Department for nearly a decade and having the opportunity to help people when they need it most.
"The most rewarding feeling is knowing you've been able to lend a hand and help someone along their journey."
Marvin credits much of his success and growth to the people around him, especially Director of Prevention Trevis Smith and colleague Eric Ward, whose leadership, mentorship, and dedication have inspired him throughout his career.
Over the years, Marvin has collaborated with doctors, nurse practitioners, scientists, researchers, and community leaders, helped create new systems and programs, contributed to research studies and academic publications, and embraced countless opportunities to grow professionally.
The part of AIDS Alabama's mission that resonates most with him is our commitment to "holistic health care and a path to healing."
"Good physical health is only one part of being truly healthy. When we help people move toward healing and wholeness, great things happen."
Fun facts about Marvin:
🎼He can learn and sing songs in several languages he doesn't fluently speak.
🍎 He's not a fan of most fruit. Grapefruit, pineapple, pomegranate, and crisp apples are among the few that make the cut.
Thank you, Marvin, for nearly a decade of compassion, service, and commitment to our mission. We are grateful for all you do for our clients, communities, and team!
