On the phone with Melanie (straight from the NICU room) She has asked me to give you a personal real-time report!

“Thanks for all your prayers! The removal of a 48.2cm frontal lobe meningioma tumor (that had literally cracked my skull) was a SUCCESS! Minimal swelling and bruising, no radiology, no speech impairment, have needed no pain meds. My surgeons and staff are speechless. They have nothing else to say except, “We have witnessed a miracle.” And I said, “God isn’t through with me yet!”

We are just leaving the hospital. She is doing great! We got her out of bed and into a chair again today. They brought her chocolate ice cream, a popsicle and pears for lunch. They forgot her turkey and dressing! She was grateful and ate everything. They took the bandage off of her head and she still has a lot of her hair. They put in transfer orders for a regular hospital room. There are no hospital beds available right now so we suspect it will be tomorrow before she is transferred. She is in great spirits and has a whole new perspective on life. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support! ~Brad & Stacy

Brief update from our source: Pulled breathing tube out around 11:00 am. At 1:00 pm she was moving her arms and legs. And talking! Doing much better than was expected. Please sign in to CaringBridge for updates. Thanks!!!

January 27, 2023 Melanie is moving her arms and legs and talking! Doing so much better than was expected!

UPDATE ON Melanie Farrar:

We just got the first update from the surgeon and he said the surgery went really well. They are closing her now and we will be able to see her in the NICU in about 90 minutes. They are going to leave her intubated overnight due to the extent of the operation. The surgeon said we will not know if she will have any neurological deficits until after she wakes up. He said they left a small amount of the tumor that was surrounding a main cerebral artery due to risk. He also said the initial pathology report came back as a benign meningioma. Please continue to pray for a full recovery. We all appreciate the prayers.

My dear friend, and hairdresser Melanie Farrar will have her brain surgery tomorrow.
Several friends gathered last night to celebrate and encourage her as she gets ready for the estimated 14 hour surgery.
If you missed my original post- Melanie has a large meningioma (tumor) on her frontal lobe. She is so amazed by your prayers and support. Let’s pray her through the surgery and a full recovery! ♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️🙏
