I love doing Peace Locs because they offer the best of both worlds: style versatility and growth retention. You can wear them in so many different ways while also supporting healthier hair over time. Since this texture option requires no daily combing, brushing, or standard detangling, there’s less manipulation which means a greater chance of retaining the hair you grow.
Beautiful style is one thing. A style that helps you keep your progress is another level.
Have you considered Peace Locs for your next hair journey?
One of the biggest salon pet peeves clients have? Feeling like the stylist forgot they even had an appointment. Being late without communication, poor time management, and leaving clients waiting for hours can turn a good service into a frustrating experience.
Another major one? Knowing how to style hair but not truly understanding hair care. Great professionals should know how to maintain healthy hair, communicate clearly, and continue learning their craft. Styling matters but knowledge, professionalism, and respect matter too.
At the end of the day, the best salon experiences are built on communication, skill, and consistency.
What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to hairstylists?
One of the biggest salon pet peeves over the years? Waiting for hours past your appointment time.
Clients don’t mind real-life delays—but what they do mind is a lack of communication and consideration. A simple heads-up, an acknowledgment, or adjusting the schedule can make all the difference. At the end of the day, it’s not just about the service—it’s about how you respect people’s time.
In today’s world, people have options. When time isn’t valued, clients will move on—or learn to do it themselves.
Respect, communication, and gratitude will always set you apart.
What’s your biggest time-related pet peeve at the salon?
Time matters—but so does accountability and communication. While most clients value being seen on time, great experiences also come from stylists who manage their schedules well and clients who respect the process.
And let’s talk about another real one…
Liking your hair until someone else doesn’t.
Your experience should be based on your satisfaction—not outside opinions. Great service is built on trust, professionalism, and clear expectations on both sides.
This series is a real conversation—it’s not just about stylists… it’s about clients too.
What’s one pet peeve you’ve experienced in the salon?
One of my biggest pet peeves behind the chair? Chair hopping. Healthy hair is a journey that requires consistency, trust, and a clear strategy between stylist and client. When people bounce from stylist to stylist, it becomes difficult to maintain the progress we’ve worked so hard to build.
Many times, the damage people blame on styles like braids actually comes from improper removal or inconsistent care. That’s why communication, consistency, and professional guidance matter. And if you’re experiencing hair loss or scalp issues, the best next step is always to consult a board-certified dermatologist who can properly assess what’s happening beneath the surface.
Great hair doesn’t happen by accident—it happens with consistency and the right team.
What’s one pet peeve you have with hairstylists or salon experiences?
Great hair experiences start before the appointment even begins. One of the biggest mistakes clients make is waiting until they sit in the chair to mention a hair issue that takes extra time to fix. If your braids just came out, your hair is matted, or there’s a concern with your scalp, letting your stylist know ahead of time helps us plan properly and respect everyone’s time in the schedule. Communication allows us to deliver the best results possible.
On the flip side, clients also shared their biggest stylist pet peeves: a bad shampoo and a lack of creativity. Clean hair and professional insight should always be part of the experience. What’s one pet peeve you have when it comes to hair appointments?

One of my biggest pet peeves? When someone has a concern about their hair but talks to everyone except the stylist who can actually fix it. Communication is everything in the salon. Whether you love your hair or something doesn’t feel right, the best solution is always an honest conversation with the professional who did the work.
At the end of the day, problems can be fixed—but only if they’re communicated.
Do you feel comfortable telling your stylist when something isn’t quite right?
If you see something, say something. Honest communication between clients and stylists is one of the most important parts of maintaining healthy hair. Your stylist only sees you for a moment in time, but you live with your hair every day. Sharing changes like excessive shedding, scalp issues, or health conditions helps professionals give you the best guidance possible.
Great hair care is a partnership built on transparency, trust, and professional insight.
