Research shows many parents recognize their own neurodivergence
after their child is diagnosed. Autism and ADHD traits often run in families,
and many adults start noticing those same patterns in themselves
during their childโs evaluation process.
For some, that moment finally puts words
to experiences theyโve had their whole life. For a long time, it went unnamed, unsupported, and misunderstood.
Now families have access to information, screenings,
and the language to describe whatโs always been here.
Weโre not seeing it in more childrenโฆ
weโre finally seeing children clearly through our past experiences. ๐งฉ๐

Now imagine navigating all of thisโฆ as a child who doesnโt even have the words for it yet.

Let me share one of my systems with you all because staying soft in this calling takes planning. When I think ahead, I get the peace I need to handle my days, no matter if my kids are neurodivergent or neurotypical. When Iโm in my systems, everything flows easier.
This summer Iโve partnered with a camp that aligns with that vision. If you want to know more, just drop โSUMMERโ below.
Every since I soft-launched my shift into this new niche, Iโve tried to give it back! ๐ฅด๐
Itโs HEAVY! It stretches me in ways I never imagined for my adult life and honestly, THAT scares me!
For a while, I was allowed to sit with it andโฆ who better than me to speak up for these babies? I LIVE this life- daily from more than one perspective!
And when I put it that way, Iโm actually honored to serve and lead here!๏ฟผ๐งฉ๐
What if you guided them through it instead of punishing them for something you never really taught?
Parents often lead with emotion just like kids do. The difference is, they have YOU to help them lead with logic!
RESPECT SHOULD BE TAUGHT! Itโs not a quote you repeat at every offense. Children arenโt listening to what you say half the time, but they are listening for HOW you say it. They want to DO what you do!
What you accept in your home is your decision, but donโt lose your cool trying to teach it. Because you CAN teach your child how to respond in a way that is received well, but you can also teach anger, offense, and rudeness just as quick!
Support matters! Therapy mattersโฆ but what they experience at home shapes how it sticks. Be the example you want to see in them! These are the ONE beings in the world who DESERVE your patience! Lead with intention. ๐๐งฉโจ

Itโs hard to stay in control when youโre frustratedโฆ
Weโre used to a certain way of communicating,
but those momentsโฆ thatโs the Blessing!
The kiddos learn how to handle emotions by watching how you handle yours.
Shoutout to EVERY mama evolving every chance they get, in every aspect, Autism or not! I pray we all see the fruit of it in their lives when they go off on their own!

My big boy fell in love with this song instantly! It still amazes me how the autistic brain memorizes things so quickly!!
At this age, his ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ค๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ต๐ช๐ท๐ฆ and ๐ฆ๐น๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด๐ด๐ช๐ท๐ฆ ๐ด๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ค๐ฉ ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ข๐บ๐ด were still very prevalent. He knew the words; his brain just couldnโt quite form them, yet. We were also, CONSTANTLY playing and replaying songs around this time!
If you look closely, youโll notice his hand flapping (a self-stimulating movement that helps regulate excitement) eventually turned to dancing when he noticed it (as practiced in therapy);
and one of the MANY cars he never lets go ofโฆ Itโs his favorite itโs his way of finding calm, focus, and familiarity in a world that moves too fast, also known as his โ๐๐๐๐.โ
In the very last video, that moment where he leans sideways in his seat? ๐ Thatโs his that dopamine-seeking ADHD trait, the one we talked about in the last post, at work โ always chasing movement, rhythm, and stimulation.
He doesnโt look any different from his peers though, right?
And thatโs exactly what makes my boo so beautifully unique. ๐
๐ก Awareness isnโt always about โwhatโs wrong with that kid.โ
Itโs about learning to recognize the โwhyโ behind their behaviorsโฆ
so we can meet them with grace and patience!
