Philippians 3:13-14 But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

What a goal to pursue! That is what Paul is saying. Quite something don’t you think so?! Awesome! And while reading you would almost think this all depends on you: I do this, I press on, I go for the heavenly prize… I. But this is not at all what Paul wants to bring across.

Paul was a Jew, he observed the law and did his utmost for God. According to Jewish law he was perfect, but this withheld him to come to Christ. He said he left all that behind to come to Jesus empty-handed, in order to walk with Him through this world, while focusing on Him. That’s our goal as well, our focus must be on Jesus Christ, to humbly walk with Him through life. Shall we focus on Him today?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You know us. You know what is going on. You know our past and where we are coming from. Thank You that we can let go of our past and reach out to the future, just like Paul. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and help us to involve You in every detail of our life. Mold us Lord, in our thoughts, in everything we do, let us walk with You. Amen.
