Being able to carve out time to defuse and dry those curls seems impossible with a family, a job and other commitments. I absolutely get it.

Who has time to dry those curls 💯?!?

The beauty of having natural curly, wavy ,or coily hair is that we can and should allow for our curls to live in whatever state it’s in that day. Yep, I said it. Give yourself a whole lot of grace.

So be it!! Let your hair air dry. Defuse it half way. Wear less products once in a while. Let it be frizzy and less curly for a day. Wear a messy bun. OR go through that full 45min to an hour washing, conditioning, setting and defusing routine.

Understanding how your curls will perform based upon how much time you have to give that day is ok.

The key is knowing what the outcome or end result of each of those approaches on drying your hair will be. Learning and developing your technique; knowing and understand what type of products create what outcome and understanding how your curls will perform with or without defusing will give you a clear understanding on what is achievable in what amount of time.

Craving out time is the most challenging part of learning your curls. I can show you what works best for your life and routine. I do know this time struggle is normal for many of us.

One whole curls worth today. Take off just enough what needs to be cut. 😘

Just over a year ago I spent a weekend learning from a couple of different curl specialist at a friend’s salon across the country and it impacted me greatly. It is ALWAYS amazing to surround yourself with individuals who have the same passions and desires to grow. It is amazing to have access to real great teachers and I am thankful for it. Today, I found out that Dom has passed and I am heartbroken of the news. Even though it was just a couple of days together, he has a way with people and I’m grateful I got to learn from him. I’m sad to hear of his passing. I guess that is the magic of some hairstylists. Impactful, impressionable, inspirational, innovated, creative, classy, sassy and a little smart assy. Rest in peace and thank you.

When you spy another curly haired stranger in public and they compliment you on your curls.…isn’t that the BEST?!?! 🫶🏽 It is like you become instant friends,right?!

My hair wasn’t even styled and I had someone behind me in line tell me how healthy my curls looked. Thank you!

They ask what products you use and you tend to oblige.

When my clients share with me this happens for them, it makes my heart happy and then I ask. Did you tell them that your special product is water and getting your hair hydrated?? 😁 I chuckle every time because I know the answer. It’s a lot to explain to someone…Trust me I get it.

The lady in line with me got a whole explanation and my card. 🤣IYKYK

If knowing that the magic of curls comes with consistent and deliberate watering of the hair. If there was the time, how helpful would it be to share that knowledge instead of sharing that “magic product” that they are waiting on and it will never come?? Just a thought.

Because giving them the best advice on products wouldn’t give them results anticipate. What it will give them is continued frustrations with their hair, endless amounts of products they “don’t” like and the cycle of frizzy hair continues.

I encourage you to share about hydrations as much as you can because this knowledge and practice will change the community as a whole. There is only one of me and this ripple effect can continue with you too.

As someone who is struggled with their own hair as a kid, teen and adult with no one understanding how to help me not look unkept or like a frizz ball. I get it! It not only took me becoming a hairstylist to appreciate what I have but it took me becoming a curl specialist to truly be happy with my hair. I can help you too 💚

I am wavy/curly girl living a dream of working in a world full of curls. I was born and raised in Minneapolis where I have spent most of my life. Currently, I am proudly serving the curl community in the northern suburb of Blaine. 

I have a private salon studio space out of Salons By JC. My beautiful home away from home is welcoming, inclusive, clean, plant filled, and comfortable.

I have designed the salon experience I provide to be welcoming to all my clients to feel safe, heard, and understood; so they can walk away feeling confident in their natural beauty. 

My process is different from the average stylist because I work with all of my guests to create a long-term hair care plan to ensure their curly hair goals are met while growing healthy hair with a beautiful color. I am your hair cheerleader and make sure you never get bored, lose hope, or become discouraged during your hair transitions. I will meet you where you are at , educate, encourage, and support what is best for you and your curl needs. This includes listening to you, providing my honest opinions, and collaborating on what will be best to help you meet your goal.

It is my mission as a Curl Coach to inspire clients to love their natural curls, coach them to be confident in caring for their curls, and to encourage pride in their hair texture.

I have been practicing my passion for over 27 years and I have never been more in love with my clients or my craft. As a curl specialist continuing education is my #1 priority. Products and technical skills are constantly evolving in my industry.  I am passionate about staying at the forefront of change to provide the best service for my clients.

Out with the old and in with the new! Rebranding.

As I get closer to finishing my website glow up I find myself get more excited to share what is to come.

For now, I will share this clump of curls that landed on the floor in the new logo design, the new logo and my new business cards next to the old to compare.
