That’s a wrap 🎬 Aren’t these lovely clients of mine the most beautiful group of curly haired ladies ever???

These ladies represent the collective soul of the curly community in my chair. Each one of these ladies came to me in different stages of their curl journey and have all ended in the other side. Healthy and happy hair but even better, a complete understanding and embracing of their own texture, abilities and lifestyle needs.

This fun(and awkward at times🤭) photoshoot also a great reason for me to celebrate them and showcase the realness of wearing our curls out loud on my new website.

One more step closer to completing this rebranding and creating an even more authentic and catered experience for my guests.

I’m so deeply grateful, full of pride and excited for what is next in this curly journey we are learning to navigate through together. 🫶🏽

The secret to a good curly cut is the silhouette.

It should be balanced and just flow.

The shape should look great at any angle; try to flip your head from side to side and up and down to check out your silhouette. It is round? Is it teared dropped shaped? Is it more square? Does it look like a heart?

Rebranding is both exciting and scary.

This weekend I will be finishing up the last big part to this rebranding…..a big photoshoot with my clients and friends.
It has been a labor of love, because most don’t like to take photos of themselves, including ME! It has been months in the making and this will help project everything forward.

I have been comparing this to planning a wedding. I say that because I had to pick a photographer, find a location (both studio and outside) and choose a date to even start. I also choose clients that would represent you all (no freaking pressure) and then had to speak to clients about modeling, have them get haircuts, schedule the day before to style the hair because you know we all love day 2 curls.

Next, I had to make choices on outfits for outside and the studio. The colors were easy because I LOVE the new salon colors; I then hired a makeup artist, and make sure all the stars align.

I have a list of photos needed. I’m sure there is more to do but telling you all, this whole thing ia work and will be worth it all!

I’m excited to share the new colors, new logo. New website, new service menu, new existing guest lounge with booking and access to how to tutorials and more!!!

Something I talk about everyday with my clients.........Clarifying shampoo.

•Do you know what it is?
•Do you know why you would use it or how come it is different than daily shampoo?
•How often it is necessary to use a clarifying shampoo?

Let me help you out and answer those questions for you.

Clarifying shampoo is a special shampoo that is made to remove buildup off your hair.

Buildup of product residue, minerals and chemicals (chlorine/fluoride) in your water, you natural oil sebum and dry scalp that doesn't get washed away with regular shampooing.

I tend to tell my clients to think of it like going to the dentist and getting that a nice deep teeth cleaning.

By using a clarifying shampoo, it keeps the cuticle of our hair clean, which allows for maximum absorption of water 💦 for our crazy thirsty and dry hair.

By not using a clarifying shampoo, it can cause our hair to become dull; it can become more dry and brittle, it will become greasy looking the same day you shampoo it, your products will not perform well, and you will not have your full potential of curl.

By clarifying your hair only once a month your scalp health will better over all by producing stronger healthier follicles. Unless you swim, use oils or cheaper quality products will build up faster and need more attention (Every 2-3weeks).

You curls will be shinny, more defined and happy. Trust me!!

- Vitamin C powder 2 parts of your regular shampoo with 1 scoop of powder.

The perfecto S wavy pattern. So beautiful you question if it was done with a curl iron but it’s not.

When an inch means an inch 😘

Rehydration of the curls cause it to shrink up. Cutting layers will also help those curls shrink up too.

Soooo all that to say, an inch off the length can be more than enough to help it feel better. To create a nice shape may require more than an inch off but it doesn’t mean that it has to be short.

Connection- taking the time to listen and really hear you.

Understanding- truly getting the fears and frustration having curly hair entails.

Results- making a specific plan that is meant to support your needs and your lifestyles to achieve your best hair.
