June is Aphasia Awareness Month!

What is aphasia? It’s ok if you don’t know! I didn’t know either until it affected our family.

My FIL had a stroke and now lives with aphasia. It means the communication part of his brain is affected, and it takes a little longer to get information conveyed. It doesn’t mean he is dumb - not in the slightest! Aphasia does not affect intelligence.

Probably that your sunscreen is the culprit!

Check your sunscreen for the ingredients AVOBENZONE and OCTOCRYLENE. Avoid using anywhere that your hair can touch!

Use a mineral based sunscreen instead! Yes, it is annoying that they tend to go on pretty 🤍 and thick but at least your hair won’t change colors!

For myself, I use mineral spray on my arms where my hair touches and the lighter spray on my legs!

What is Pints and Ponytails? A fun environment for anyone to learn how to do a few cute, easy styles! It will be taught by the amazing stylists from My Salon Suite, and includes a cute little gift package, as well as a free drink!

Currently we are teaching how to do a basic ponytail, braid, fishtail braid, bubble braid, and space buns. There is hope for a more advanced class after this one!
