Session one is all about setting the foundation.
We’re breaking up dark hair, new growth and previous color inconsistencies section by section so everything starts to blend more seamlessly. And going section by section takes a WHILE. But we do not cut corners here!

That first appointment isn’t always about getting you all the way to the inspiration photo. It’s about creating the right base so we can get there without compromising your hair.

This correction took 5 hours, and every section was intentionally placed to start building toward a soft, lived in result.

AI IS OUT OF CONTROL!!!
Let’s talk about it 👀

Many are using it to enhance their work, and the problem is that now a lot of the photos guests are bringing in for “inspiration” aren’t even showing real hair anymore.
The actual hair may have been totally different before AI smoothed it out, added fullness, perfected the shape and made every strand look almost too uniform.

And these photos are getting GOOD. Sometimes even we have to look twice.
As stylists, it’s our job to be honest with you when an inspiration photo looks unrealistic, because we never want to promise a result that may not actually exist in real life.

Here’s an example using Valerie’s color.

The first photo is the real result. Then we asked AI to “enhance” it. Second photo? Yep you guessed it… AI!
At first glance, it looks believable. But look closely at the last photo 👀

See those tiny, almost perfectly repeated lines through the hair? That’s one of the giveaways. Real hair has little inconsistencies. AI tends to make everything a little too perfect and a little too uniform. And as “pretty as it is” it’s not real!!! And your hair will never look that way!

Carolyn spent the weekend taking an advanced, hands-on hair extension class covering multiple extension methods.

She’s already certified, but we don’t believe getting certified means you’re done learning.

Hair extensions are always evolving, and we think one of the best ways to really grow your knowledge is to learn from multiple companies, educators, techniques, and approaches. No one brand has every answer, and continuing education helps us understand the why behind what we’re doing instead of just following one system.

That’s a huge part of how we do things at FOIL+GLOSS.
