Recently, I was told that it’s weird I don’t post very much. (I love you, anonymous client 😅🖤) So, these are the reasons why:

1. I’m a perfectionist. I spend way too much time trying to figure what to say on posts, even the ones with a sentence or two. Then it follows-up with “man, I wish the lighting wasn’t funky in this pic” or “I should’ve angled them differently” and so on. That’s why my clients know better than to make plans on the day of their appointment, because I am looking at every single strand, the way it lays on the head, strategizing foil placement, formulating color like a mad scientist, analyzing hair health so that it stays on the client’s head, making sure hair texture and lifestyle support the maintenance required for cut/color, ETCCCCCC.
2. When I leave the salon, I want to go home and be with my family. My husband works long hours and my kids are little for only a short time. Whatever I have left from the day, I give to them. Family is my number one focus. Always.
3. Face to face interaction flows better for me than trying to talk through a screen. I still write things on paper, because if it isn’t physical, it’s “not real” to me. That’s how my brain works 🤷‍♀️
4. Simply, social media gives me the “ick”, especially right now. The hate, the violence, the death I see circulate on platforms, my soul can’t take it. I have a battle with myself daily between “don’t look, the heart needs a break” and “I need to be aware so I can keep myself and others safe.” I receive 1440 newsletters, so that’s where I look for facts, but that doesn’t tell me what’s actually going on in my own community, so the battle continues.

So remember, I may not post very often, but I am very much still doing hair. If you need a stylist that’s super active on social media, it’s not me and that’s ok.

All of that being said, I’m always accepting new clients of any race, religion, gender, and sexual orientation. If hate doesn’t have a place in your life, you’re welcome in my chair and I can’t wait to meet you. 🖤

Bond builders, keratin, or protein are not a “fix all”. Overusing these products can actually create more issues and damage. If the bonds in the hair are repaired, the product can’t do its designated job and so it builds up. Think “too much of a good thing”.

Hair needs moisture no matter the type and especially if chemically altered. The AMOUNT of moisture is what needs to be considered. Everyone is different so our needs will be, too.
