Did you get the memo? It was officially “its too hot for long hair” season as of yesterday (tell the others!) This is Richard. He’s a runner, a consummate home renovator, and cat daddy to his Maine C**n, Espen. Like many, his long hair was the result of the shut down so here we are a few years later and several degrees hotter out there. Nine out of 10 Richards agree, shorter is better! Thank you Richard for the always interesting conversation and coming to STRAND!

Lets hear it for the baseball mullet! Meet Harry. This articulate, beautiful, smiley guy knew exactly what he wanted and sat like a champ! He plays baseball and soccer, watches Tom and Jerry toons, is known to call his peeps “bro,” digs super heroes and Ozzy Osbourne! He makes me laugh and I truly enjoy visiting with him. Had a blast cutting this kool kid!

When someone new visits STRAND, I never know what is going to be required of my skill set. And ask any stylist, corrective color is no easy task (and no correction is alike or the same.) This stylish U of I student dyed her hair black to be Wednesday Addams for Halloween. After the holiday was over, so was the black hair love so she tried a decolorizer from Sallys Beauty supply to lighten her hair! Fast forward months later, with 2” of outgrowth of her natural, dark blonde roots and residual black and ginger ends. It was my challenge to carefully return her to the natural blonde she was accustomed to being and not increase her hair’s already compromised condition. 2 1/2 hours later, and so much Schwarzkopf BlondMe lightener + Redken Shades EQ gloss, and K18 reconstructor, a beautiful, natural result was achieved. While I trust my education (and gut) to know what path to follow in a corrective situation, so much can go sideways quickly (so I’m a nervous wreck during the entire process.) It’s not my preferred service to perform but I know it’s good every now and then to stretch our legs and do something that makes us uncomfortable! Needless to say, Skylar was happy, her mama was relieved, and so was I.

This is Cyndy. I recently had the pleasure of “color balancing” her hair, affected by rural well (hard) water. IFYKYK. Well water is not hair color’s friend. Iron and rust deposits onto the hair, making it dry, dull, altering hair color. Cyndy treated her hair with a rust removal treatment prior to her appt making my work so much easier. Some highlights, lowlights, and a toning glaze to balance/seal her ends made all the difference. Cyndy, who always puts her children, work, sheep/alpaca herd, and faith first, to recieve some much needed self-care was absolutely my pleasure to deliver. She’s not only a farmer and fiber artist but also a mother of 6, an ordained pastor, a pharma rep, and a beast in the gym. Thank you Cyndy for taking time out of your busy life and visiting STRAND. You made my day!
