Update for friends and awesome customers over the last 13 years.

Well, it’s been another interesting week on my medical adventure. For those keeping track—I added a surprise Friday surgery to the list (don’t worry, I’m not aiming for a frequent flyer card at the hospital). It was last-minute and went as well as these things go.
Now, I’m standing at one of life’s “choose your own adventure” moments, with some very tough decisions ahead. Every option comes with its own set of risks—nothing is simple in this journey. I’ve stared down tougher odds before, but I want to be thoughtful with my next steps.
For now, I’m hitting the pause button on sharing all the details and (this is important!) not looking for advice or opinions—even the well-meaning kind. This is a decision I need to make with just my wife and son by my side. When the time comes and I’ve decided on the path forward, I’ll share it. I do hope my experience will help others going through similar rare cancers.
Right now, all I ask for is your prayers, good vibes, and maybe a few bad jokes—laughter is good medicine, after all.
And for my friends m(and anyone else tempted to make this into a dramatic saga): Please, no tall tales or “Breaking News” reports. I promise, if there’s something you really need to know, you’ll hear it from me first—not the backyard grapevine!
Also, for the first time, I’m seeing a counselor who knows all about the mental side of facing rare neuroendocrine tumor cancers. That’s a new one for me—figured it couldn’t hurt to have another expert in my corner.

I made it to Rochester,MN for my Mayo Appointments this week. I was just here Aug 1st finishing up my last day of radiation treatments. Then that final week they discovered two separate tumors on my pancreas. After doing a biopsy back home it confirmed they were cancerous Neuroendocrine tumors of two different types. Unfortunately Kansas City does not have any oncologists that specialize in this type of cancer. The good thing is the Mayo Clinc has a whole department for this rare type of cancer. I hoping I get some answers and opinions on trying to beat this. It seems like when it it rains it pours. And my son who I am so proud of is just about to go off to Dartmouth College starting is journey to become a doctor. I truly wished we could have kept the Locker Room open but our financial burden and health was something we could not overcome. I truly wish all of our past employees and the ones who stuck it out all the way to the end alll the success in their new endeavors. Over are 13 years I always believed in giving people second and even third chances. We all make mistakes and I believe it's what you learn from those mistakes is what's most important. Having my wife going through the trenches with me has really kept me going. I am blessed to have her that is for sure.

With deep sadness, we announce that Locker Room Hair Salon will close permanently today, May 1st.

Running a small business is always challenging, and our family has faced significant medical difficulties in recent years, making it impossible to continue. After 13 wonderful years, we’ve made the tough choice to prioritize our family and close the salon. We’re immensely grateful for our incredible staff and loyal clients—you will be deeply missed.
