Think you’re doing everything right for your melasma… but still seeing flares?
There are a few sneaky triggers that may be making melasma worse — and some of them are probably part of your regular routine.
5 habits that can flare your melasma:
Red light masks — heat and light exposure may be problematic for some people with melasma, especially if you notice flaring after use.
Hot yoga — intense heat can trigger flushing and inflammation, which may aggravate melasma-prone skin.
Saunas & steam rooms — more heat exposure = another potential trigger for pigment.
Skipping sunscreen — even occasional unprotected UV exposure can keep melasma active. Consistency matters!
Ignoring visible light — UV isn’t the whole story. Visible light can also worsen melasma, which is why a tinted sunscreen containing iron oxides can be especially helpful for pigment-prone skin.
✨ The biggest takeaway? Treating melasma isn’t just about what you put on your skin — it’s also about understanding what may be triggering it.
