Starting in October, join us for guided tours that offer a closer look at the stories, landscapes, and traditions that make Shangri-La Springs unique.

Guided History Tours take you through the captivating past of our historic property. Learn about the native Calusa tribe who used the mineral spring hundreds of years ago, hear about Ponce de Leon’s visit in the early 1500s, and discover stories of the famous guests who have visited our hotel throughout its 100+ year history.

Guided History Tours are offered Tuesdays from 10 AM to 11 AM from October through May. Tickets are $20 + tax per person.

Organic Garden Tours offer a guided walk through our four-acre USDA Certified Organic garden, featuring lush subtropical and tropical plantings, seasonal crops, and a productive orchard. Learn about our organic growing methods and permaculture principles while exploring the garden and its thriving ecosystem.

Organic Garden Tours are offered Thursdays from 10 AM to 11 AM beginning October 6th. Tours are limited to 20 guests and cost $20 + tax per person.

What a wonderful way to celebrate 100 years of Shangri-La Springs.

We are incredibly grateful to the City of Bonita Springs for recognizing this milestone with an official proclamation honoring the 100th anniversary of our historic property and its century-long connection to the community.

A special thank you to Mike Heitman for representing the Heitman family and sharing stories about his family’s history and their contributions to the early community that became Bonita Springs. Having a descendant of Shangri-La Springs founder Gilmer McCrary Heitman join us made this celebration especially meaningful.

We also want to recognize our incredible Shangri-La Springs team. Their dedication to caring for this special place, welcoming our guests and honoring its history is what allows its story to continue.

City of Bonita Springs Honors Shangri-La Springs’ 100-Year Anniversary Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Join us on October 5th for Sprouting for Health with Wendy Cheatham Newman, a special session rooted in the natural wellness traditions of Shangri-La Springs.

Wendy grew up on the property and is the daughter of R.J. Cheatham whose family owned the property from 1965-1993. As one of six children, she helped prepare organic, raw food meals and was responsible for growing 17 varieties of sprouts for as many as 150 guests. Now, she is returning to Shangri-La Springs to share the sprouting traditions and knowledge she learned during her childhood here.

During this hands-on session, Wendy will share her knowledge of growing sprouts while offering insight into the natural foods and whole-body wellness practices that were an important part of Shangri-La's history.
