Inspired by her Herbal Apprenticeship with The Boston School of Herbal Studies, Annabelle Ho founded Herbal Medicine Box (formerly Wholesome Cuisine). Annabelle first began to be interested in herbs as she studied nutrition at Boston University, and started to look into natural and alternative approaches to health. Ever since completing the Herbal Apprenticeship, Annabelle has been on a whirlwind of discovery, learning more about natural approaches to healthy living. In addition to completing her undergraduate degree in the nutritional sciences from Boston University, Annabelle has also completed the Aromatherapy Course at The Boston School of Herbal Studies, the Master Urban Gardener course through the Boston Natural Areas Network, and the health coaching program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Through this blog, Annabelle hopes to share what she learns about natural approaches to living and health with others. In addition to herbalism, Annabelle's interests include food, kombucha, cooking, health, natural living, gardening, agriculture, sustainability, playing the cello, and biking.

The Jane Goodall Institute has learned this morning, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, that Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, UN Messenger of Peace and Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute has passed away due to natural causes. She was in California as part of her speaking tour in the United States.
Dr. Goodall’s discoveries as an ethologist revolutionized science, and she was a tireless advocate for the protection and restoration of our natural world.

Denmark has announced plans to eliminate its 25% value-added tax on books—the highest book VAT in the world—as part of a bold effort to address a growing “reading crisis.”
Culture Minister Jakob Engel‑Schmidt unveiled the proposal, which is part of the upcoming national budget, aimed at making literature more affordable and increasing reading levels, especially among children.
The policy is expected to cost the government approximately 330 million kroner (~£38 million) annually. While Denmark’s Nordic neighbors apply VAT exemptions or reduced rates to books—0% in Norway, 6% in Sweden, and 14% in Finland—the high Danish rate has hindered accessibility.
To complement the tax reform, the government also plans stronger collaboration between schools and public libraries. However, the minister cautions that if prices don’t fall after VAT abolition, he will reconsider the measure’s effectiveness.
