We tend to think of this as a "bad" emotion. Except there is no such thing. If you're feeling it, anger is telling you something. Check out the newest WSW blog to figure out what that is.

What are you confident in? Who do you feel the most confident around? Sometimes we lose track of those patterns when the external and internal voices diminish our confidence. If you're struggling right now with confidence, try and reconnect with those patterns- who and what reminds you of what you CAN do, and then take steps toward what you have decided you can't do.

In "The State of Affairs", talks about marriage being interpreted as a cornerstone or a capstone. Though only one small nugget in a book full of brilliance, it is worth pausing on. How does your love sit within (or upon) your identity formation? Meaning, did you form your identity along with your beloved and the construct of the partnership, or did you find commitment following that development? To me this has less to do with age, and more about the role and function that relationships serve within our identities, as well as the expectations we have for them.

We all have them. The friend that can rub us the wrong way. What is that feeling telling us about ourselves? How are they actually helping us find our most true form? Most importantly, (maybe) how can we learn from that reaction and still have our space?

Some of my favorite mugs are made by a long-gone potter. He had a little shop close to my work and my mom and I would stop in regularly to browse his 'seconds' shelf. Rumor was, he had a complicated history and he was never particularly friendly, and he would only market his perfect items. Though his full-price pottery was too expensive for me at the time, we continued to come back because of our love for his work. I never bought a whole set, or a "perfect" item, but my perfectly imperfect collection is one of my prized possessions. There's probably a self-esteem parallel somewhere in there. ;). Be kind to yourself today everyone.

Why is it roughly 10,000 times harder to make friends as adults? I envy children sometimes, and how easily many of their friendships are begun. If you are an adult that is wishing it was as easy as having the same favorite color again, you're not alone.
It's worth wondering though if we could gain some lessons here: keep it simple, look for commonalities and curiosities, and focus on fun. Think less, play more.

Today is my mom's birthday, and it's been five months since she passed. Today I celebrate our time together, and for her gifts. Today I grieve. Today, I'm connected to all of you out there who know this path.

To those who are dripping with children, and enjoying sweet homemade cards covered with cereal crumbs, stepmothers on their own journeys, future mothers at war with infertility, pet mamas, the 'mom' of the friend group, those who have lost children or a mother, and everyone else who finds today a combination of sweet and sour, I'm wishing you a special day. No matter what, you are enough.
