Tip: Wear a satin scarf around your hairline to go to sleep. This way, you won't have to re-style your edges every day causing stress to the hairline.
Tip: Get a diffuser to dry your locs if you typically use a handheld blow dryer. Another thing to use with a handheld dryer is a bonnet hairdryer. 🙋♀️ I have a professional salon dryer. I turn it down to medium. Otherwise, my scalp feels like it's on fire! 🔥🔥
Tip: Try brushing your locs. It can remove buildup and remove lint. It can also help tame any frizzy hairs. My recommendation is to use a soft bristle brush, preferably made with natural fibers, such as boar bristles. Note: this is for folks who have had locs for years!
Tip: Steam is one of the best conditioning treatments for locs. Spray leave-in conditioner or moisturizer BEFORE getting into the shower because the steam will help the moisturizer pe*****te deeper— which hydrates the locs.
So next time you’re about to shower, remember to apply your moisturizer, pin your locs up away from soap scum, and indulge in a mini-steam treatment! Please do not do this at night. Otherwise, you will go to sleep with funky wet hair.
Tip: Detox your locs once a year. Soak all of locs in Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) for 30 minutes. I would suggest 1 cup of ACV. Please be aware that if your hair is colored, the color will fade a little.
If nobody has told you lately, make time for you! That can look like taking a nap, having a good cry, drinking lots of water, dancing to your favorite song, or journaling. Your joy is worth so much more than you realize. 😘 💯
