My bride was late today. And guess what? We were still okay. 🤎

Not because everything went according to plan.

Because the plan accounted for the fact that everything might not go according to plan.

You cannot predict the exact moment someone will run late, a zipper will get stuck, breakfast will arrive late, someone will misplace an earring, the photographer will need five extra minutes, or a bride will simply need a moment to herself.

But you can plan for the possibility.

That’s why I believe in building intentional buffers into a wedding-day beauty timeline.

Because there are two very different ways to experience an unexpected 20-minute delay:

✨ “We’re okay. We have time.”

or

😩 “Everybody hurry! We’re behind!”

Same delay.
Completely different wedding morning.

And on a day that already moves incredibly fast, I’d much rather give my bride time she ends up not needing than have her desperately need time we never gave her.

A good timeline gets you there on time.

A thoughtful timeline gives you room to be human along the way. 🤎

Brides, when you’re reviewing your wedding-day timeline, don’t just ask: “Does everything fit?”

Ask: “Where is my buffer?”

If your wedding starts at 4 PM, that doesn’t mean your makeup artist just works backward from 4 and picks a start time.

We need to know:

Where are you getting dressed?
How far are you from the venue?
When does your photographer need you?
Are you doing a first look?
When will you eat?
When do guests begin arriving?
And most importantly… where is the breathing room?

Because I don’t want you jumping out of my chair and immediately being rushed into your dress.

I want you to eat. Use the bathroom. Read the letter. Take the photos. Have the moment with your mom. Sit on the edge of the bed for five minutes and realize, “I’m getting married today.” 🥹

A well-planned bridal beauty timeline doesn’t just get you ready on time.

It protects the way you get to experience your wedding morning.

So when a makeup artist asks, “What time is your ceremony?” — that should be the beginning of the conversation, not the end.

Every wedding is different. First looks, travel, getting-ready locations, photography and other details will affect your actual timing.

Your makeup artist can’t “cover” everything — and that’s something you deserve to know before your wedding day. 🤎

Makeup is incredible at correcting color, evening the complexion, adding dimension, and enhancing your features.

But texture? Puffiness? Fine lines? Those require a different conversation.

If there’s something about your skin or features that you already know you’ll be concerned about in your wedding photos, don’t wait until wedding morning to address it.

Bring it up during your bridal preview.
Think about your skin prep in the weeks leading up to the wedding.
And if your desired result involves reducing visible texture in your final images, talk with your photographer about their approach to retouching and post-production.

Part of preparing for bridal beauty is understanding what makeup can do, what it can’t do, and having a plan for both.

The goal isn’t to sell you an impossible promise.

It’s to help you walk into your wedding day knowing exactly what to expect — and feeling beautiful when you do. 🤎
