Hi, I am Lisa, your local blind massage therapist.
That’s right, I can’t see a thing. But don’t worry, that’s actually good news for you! Are you embarrassed by that pasty pale skin or those regrettable tattoos? Don’t worry, I won’t judge. In fact, my clients love the fact that I can’t see them—not just because they may be insecure with their bodies, but because they know I live by the sense of touch and can notice things with my hands that other therapists often miss. Hollywood loves to play up the idea of the blind superpower, but I guess in this instance it’s true. At least, that’s how I’m looking at it. 🤣🤣🤣
In all seriousness, I am deeply in tune with the sense of touch and use that skill to create a truly therapeutic and relaxing massage for my clients.
To be honest, I’m being very vulnerable here. This is the first time I have publicly shared that I am a blind massage therapist. Unless a new client is a referral, they usually don’t know I am visually impaired until they show up. And because there’s absolutely no way I can hide the fact that I can’t see, I thought I might as well embrace it openly.
Let me share a bit of my story with you:
I was born with glaucoma, a condition that affects eye pressure and can lead to vision loss. Growing up, I had limited vision, but at one point I could read some large print, recognize faces and colors, and navigate my world with sight. At age 15, I had an emergency eye surgery to preserve my remaining vision, but complications from the procedure left me completely blind.
After I first lost my vision, I went out of my way not to draw attention to my blindness. I quickly learned that was no way to live. It was exhausting. Eventually, I decided to embrace my reality. In part, that is what actually led me to massage therapy.
So many of us are walking around trying to hide the things we can’t change, and our bodies are suffering for it.
In many ways, I am blessed. The world sees my struggle and gives me grace. But the world doesn’t seem to offer that same kind of compassion for all the struggles that go unseen. I want to be the one to bridge that gap.
Maybe it’s fibromyalgia, lupus, multiple sclerosis, or some other form of invisible chronic pain that leaves you feeling exhausted and misunderstood. Or maybe you are carrying a tremendous burden that nobody sees—it could be your marriage, your finances, your children, or struggles at work that are weighing on your heart.
It’s true, a massage won’t fix all your problems. But it’s nice to know that for at least one hour, someone is in your corner who understands life can be heavy, especially when no one sees your struggle. 💛
If you’d like to come see me for a massage, but you’re worried our interaction might be awkward, I can promise you that won’t be the case. I have an extremely disarming personality that instantly puts people at ease. Just ask anyone who knows me, including my husband and two teenage boys! They’ll tell you I’m impossible to offend and I’ve never met a stranger. Life is just too short for all that mess.
And if you’ve never worked with a visually impaired therapist and wonder about spatial awareness or precision, don't you worry. I have an excellent sense of spatial awareness and touch boundaries. If I can fry chicken, fire up the grill, and slice vegetables thinner than you’ve ever seen with the sharpest commercially available knife—and still have all 10 fingers intact—you are in completely safe, caring, and capable hands.

Lisa is a licensed massage therapist from Bowling Green who believes every person deserves to feel comfortable, cared for, and at peace in their own body. She shares life with her husband, Patrick, their two teenage sons, and their lovable golden retriever, Dixie. When she’s not in the massage room, you’ll likely find her trying new recipes, spending time with family and friends, or listening to a good true crime podcast.

One of the first things you’ll notice when you meet Lisa is that she is visually impaired, having lost her eyesight to glaucoma at age 16. Rather than being a limitation, it has become one of her greatest strengths. Because she relies on touch to understand the world around her, Lisa has developed an exceptional ability to identify areas of tension, stress, and imbalance. Her intuitive approach allows her to provide massages that are deeply personalized and focused on your individual needs.
