🚨 QUALITY JEWELRY MATTERS 🚨

If a piercing shop or piercer doesn’t offer quality body jewelry, that is absolutely something to consider when deciding where to get pierced.

Implant-grade titanium should be a baseline option, not an upgrade.

A reputable piercer should be able to tell you exactly what material your jewelry is made from and the standard it meets. For titanium, look for verified implant-grade materials such as ASTM F-136 or ASTM F-67 titanium.

⚠️ Terms like “surgical steel” or “stainless steel” alone do not guarantee implant-grade jewelry. Some specific grades of steel can meet recognized implant standards, but simply calling something “surgical steel” tells you very little about its quality.

Sterling silver is also not appropriate for a fresh or healing piercing.

Your piercing is an open wound with jewelry sitting inside it for months while it heals. The quality, finish, material, and construction of that jewelry matter.

Ask your piercer:
• What material is this jewelry?
• What ASTM or ISO standard does it meet?
• Is it internally threaded or threadless?
• Can you provide documentation from the manufacturer if asked?

This beauty came to me with an existing navel piercing that had been pierced too shallow. You can still see the old piercing site, but we were able to properly assess her anatomy and give her a fresh navel piercing with better placement and depth. 💎

Proper placement matters. A navel piercing shouldn't just look good the day you get it. It needs to be placed appropriately for your anatomy to give it the best opportunity to heal successfully.
