Fear is a powerful emotion. It often masquerades as a cloak of protection, keeping us from doing things that may cause us harm. But sometimes, the real damage comes from the inaction that fear enables.

We avoid at all costs those things that make us uncomfortable, but there is no growth in the status quo. Sooner or later, that caution and those fears that prevent you from getting hurt or put on the spot, stagnate you.

Somewhere along the way, out of fear of ridicule or rejection, you started to tell yourself that it was okay not to go after what you wanted. You fill your head with negative stories that prevent you from learning, growing, and stretching your wings. You say things like, I’m not good enough, I’m not ready, or I’m just a __________ (whatever you are now), not a _________ (whatever you’d like to be).

Self-sabotaging talk can be a dream killer and a self-fulfilling prophecy. It’s a vicious cycle. It plants seeds of doubt, so we start to retreat and succumb to the negative stories echoing in our heads.

How have you been giving power to fear just to meet your needs in the world? ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Seek to worth knowing rather than well known.

Confidence is not “the will like me.” Confidence is “I’ll be fine if they don’t.”

People are not grasping the severity of this situation until it’s YOU. Supporting in any way possible to the Cuban community right now is everything to me. I might not be Cuban but a lot of my friends, close family members, uncles and colleagues of mine are. It hurts me to see them and others hit this deep. I don’t know what I would I do if it was my country going through this. I owe my career and profession to Cubans because they taught me everything that I know today. If it wasn’t for my first Manager in a my first real job in a medical center I wouldn’t know the medical field, and she was Cuban. My first on the job training as a front desk was by a Cuban. My first Referral department supervisor is a Cuban, my first Corporate America family were Cubans and if it wasn’t because of them I wouldn’t have pursued my career. This hurts more than anything. The Cuban Community need us, so speak up! 🗣
