A little extra pink this October 💗

Any pink braid service booked this month will have a portion donated toward breast cancer support/research.

First time taking a figure 8 infinity braid design to THIS scale… and because apparently trying something new wasn’t enough, we made it GLOW IN THE DARK too. 😂✨

I’ve played around with this technique in smaller sections before, but when Natalie showed me her inspo, it was officially a “here goes nothing” moment. And honestly? I’d say we nailed it. 🙌

Huge shoutout to Gabby, a braider I’ve learned so much from just by watching her work over the years. She told me to tag her when I finally tried this, so here we are! 🥹🩷

And thank you to my new client Natalie for being so patient, trusting me with something new, and being absolutely awesome through the whole process.

Would you try glow-in-the-dark braids for a festival? 👀

Just your average day at Strands of Aura… color consultation, full transformation, and a little help from the world’s youngest colorist. 😂🎨

Marissa was ready for a change, and we wanted to take her into this gorgeous, dimensional copper without having to bleach her hair. We worked with the warmth already living in her canvas instead of fighting against it, and I LOVE where we landed. 🧡

And yes, Rory was very involved in the consultation. Apparently bringing your baby to work means she eventually starts taking clients. 😂

I hear this ALL the time when someone feels like their hair is too brassy. And sometimes the answer is… no.

Toner and gloss can change the tone of your hair, but they can’t create brightness that isn’t already there.

In this case, she wanted to be brighter AND cooler. If I had simply neutralized all of the warmth at her current level, her hair would have looked darker and more muted. Not necessarily bad, just not what she actually wanted.

So instead of trying to tone our way out of the brass, we added traditional highlights to create more brightness and used some of that existing warmth as depth.

And THIS is why I’ll never automatically treat warmth like the enemy. ✨ When it’s in the right places, it can actually make your brighter pieces look even brighter.

You can’t tone your way to brighter. Sometimes you have to create the brightness first. 🤍

Another Disney Princess brought to life 💙✨

This time we took on Jasmine’s iconic bubble pony, of course with my own little spin on it!

I’ve been loving recreating these princess-inspired hairstyles, especially when I get to do them with my favorite little model, Maddy. 🥹 She makes every one of these so much more fun.
