Huge shoutout to Genesis Goncalves for inspiring the hair wall idea. I took the concept and added a little Strands of Aura magic to make it my own. Just in time for pride month!

This baby rave had so much magic, so much personality, and sooo much footage, but the birthday girl deserved her own moment first.

She is officially the face of Strands of Aura until baby Rory grows some hair… and then they can both steal the show. 💅🏼

How do you tell your favorite client no… even if she doesn’t have much hair yet?

The power ponies were fighting for their life, but we made it work. 💕

Did you catch me tripping in the beginning? 😅 That could’ve been bad.

But honestly, that pretty much sums up what this setup was: a little chaotic, very real, and somehow exactly what it needed to be.

Before the braid transformations, before the colors were blended in, before the client reactions, photos, and final festival looks… there was a packed car, a hot hotel room, bags everywhere, hair everywhere, tripods to build, music to get going, missing pole pieces, a backdrop that did not want to cooperate, and us figuring it out as we went.

It took us about an hour and a half just to unload and set everything up.

And even with the little mishaps, every part of it mattered to me.

Because I never wanted anyone to feel like they were just walking into a random hotel room to get braided. I wanted it to feel intentional. Organized. Creative. Comfortable. Like a little piece of Strands of Aura built from scratch for everyone who trusted me with their Rockville hair.

Festival braiding is so much more than the final look. It’s the planning, the packing, the problem-solving, the setup, the energy, the flow, and all the tiny details that happen before the first braid even starts.

This room became more than a hotel room for the weekend. It became our Rockville braid studio.

A place where the chaos turned into color, the setup turned into an experience, and the vision came to life one braid at a time.
