Johnny & June's Barber & Beauty Parlor

If you've been following along, you probably know that last week I received an email with the subject line:

"Hairstylist - Bobcat Stadium"

The email was asking if we had a stylist available to provide a haircut at the stadium before a concert. A few emails later, I found out the client was Marcus Mumford.

Since sharing the story, the response has been wild.

"His hair looks amazing."

"Fresh haircut."

"He looks sharp."

"He looked smoking hot."

And my personal favorite, I already had a gentleman book an appointment requesting "The Mumford Cut." 😂

As cool as the opportunity was, the best part has honestly been seeing how excited everyone has been for us. Every comment, share, message, and appointment means more than you know.

So, for the ladies wanting this cut for their husband, boyfriend, or son, or for the guys who sit in the barber chair and have no clue what to ask for, comment "Marcus" below and I'll send you the exact haircut formula I used.

Fair warning: I can give you the haircut, but I can't guarantee you'll end up in a Grammy-winning folk band. 😉

Yesterday morning, about an hour before heading into the shop, I received an email from a guy named Frederick with the subject line: "Hairstylist - Bobcat Stadium."

Naturally, my first thought was, "This is definitely a scam." 😂

But I responded anyway.

The message was asking if we had a stylist available to come to the stadium for a haircut. At the time, all I knew was that Mumford & Sons were playing. I immediately texted our shop group chat:
"Anyone in here a big Mumford & Sons fan?"

Their music is great, but I'm mostly a country girl, so I recruited Ashley and started figuring out the logistics. Then I thought, well, this is kind of a big deal... maybe the owner herself should accompany her to oversee the project. 😉

So I called my husband to handle baby and dog pickup logistics, rescheduled a client, and sent an email explaining that I'd be joining Ashley to oversee the service.

Still wasn't convinced this was real.

Then Freddie called.

That's when he casually informed me that I would be cutting Marcus Mumford's hair backstage, Ashley would be taking care of Ted, and since I'm a licensed barber specializing in men's cuts, I'd also be handling the beard work.

Excuse me... WHAT?! 🤯

Suddenly it hit me. Somehow, one of the biggest bands in the world found our little shop in Bozeman from a random Google search and decided we were the people for the job.

Then Freddie says, “Oh, and you're welcome to stay for the show. We'll have tickets for you and your significant others.”

At this point the adrenaline was rushing!

After basically packing up half the shop, throwing on a last-minute mediocre outfit from my closet, meeting up with Ashley, and detouring across town, we finally arrived.

Ted didn't end up needing a haircut, so Ashley's role quickly became hanging out backstage and discreetly taking photos of me working.

Before I knew it, we were standing behind the scenes at a Mumford & Sons concert, and later watching the show from center-stage field tickets.

I never saw myself ending up in that situation, but I definitely left with a T-shirt, and a poster.

The energy in the stadium was unreal. The stage setup and lights were unlike anything I've ever seen, and the music was incredible.

Although I will say... seeing your work projected onto a giant stadium screen has a way of making you question every blending decision you've ever made. 🥴
