Distractions can determine whether your horse receives a thorough pinpoint massage or not. A relaxing environment is essential for a thorough massage. While it does add to the “spa” experience, that is not why I requested a quiet, calm environment.
I massage to help your horse feel better, perform better, and prevent injuries. When the horse is distracted it’s hard to read their body language. I wish they could talk because it would make it so much easier to pinpoint different issues. If the horse is distracted, it’s hard to tell if they are reacting to the distraction or to the pressure used in the massage.
Even if your horse is distracted, they are still benefiting from the massage. They aren’t getting less of one by any means, but when the horse is relaxed and not distracted massage therapist can pinpoint areas that need more attention.

I was sick of all the chemicals in my horse’s care routine too and wanted to find the root cause to my horse’s physical problems. From the harsh fly spray to the synthetic chemicals in my horse’s food…I was over it! That’s when I started my deep dive into holistic horse care.
I became a certified Equine Sport & Deep Tissue massage therapist to help find the cause of my horse’s physical health issues. I no longer put a bandage on the symptoms now that I know how to look for the root causes. To future my education in holistic horse care, I became a certified Equine Aromatherapist. I learned how to create almost any equine product with safe, natural ingredients and so much more!

Health comes first over anything else. Horses are amazing at hiding their aches and pains while still performing their very best. Even though perform well doesn’t mean they are living to their fullest.
We stewards of our horses. They are giving their best and we should help them feel their best so they can live to the fullest! By feeling good they can perform and last even longer.
Put your horse’s muscular health on your checklist of care and maintenance. Schedule a session to understand their muscular health and proceed as your therapist recommends.
Does this mean getting your horse massaged after every ride? No, maintenance massage can be as little as one every quarter year to monthly massages. For high performance horses massage should be customized to their workload.
Put your horse first. Your horse has one life, so make it a good one by maintaining their body. Without a healthy horse, we cannot participate in the joys of owning or riding a healthy, happy horse.

Is your horse cinchy?
Usually, when a horse is cinchy, that means there is be a problem, not them just being naughty.
In my experience as a equine massage therapist, most of the horses I worked on that were cinchy had poor saddle/cinch fits and/or sore Ascending Pectoral and Latissimus Dorsi muscles. Through fitting corrections and massage, all my clients have improved and no longer are sensitive to being cinched up. Horses can also become sensitive to cinching when the cinch is too tight too long, improper cinch length which can lead to over-tightening, and pinching which can happen with stiff cinches.
