The name Recherché is a French word finding its way up the literary ladder from the early 1700s. Its etymological background refers to a very rare item being sought out with care: exotic, of studied refinement and elegance, pertaining to obscure excellence. Now why would one choose to bring back a literary fossil as one's company name? It is because, in this day and age, desirable things have beco

For 20 years, we’ve been collecting sapphires. It started when my oldest was tiny and and has continued on as my youngest had grown.

I had the idea of collecting sapphires all of their young lives, and then having these stones cut and made into a ring and a tennis bracelet set for each of my son’s future wives…

Today we added 25 large carats to that collection…

Most all of my gardening is done with this little hand tool. It was my grandmothers and it spend hundreds of hours in her hand before mine.

I think much of my love of flowers came from spending summers outside gardening and weeding with her and my grandfather. I have a deep fondness for this time in my life.

I hear my grandfathers vioce telling me if I cleaned off the tools after use, they would last a lifetime. I hear my grandmother teaching me about massaging the roots before transplanting a flower…

There isn’t a week in the summertime that this isnt in my hand at some point. It turns out, I have become sentimental over the simple things. Things that remind me of my connection with others….

Shifting into the warmer weather months, naturally, everything starts to change.
Our clothing gets lighter, we gravitate towards lighter skincare, we eat lighter foods... It's the natural progression from winter to summer.

Winter is for:
Layers of clothing, cozyness, richer and more hydrating skincare products, heavier foods such as homemade bread and soups, root veggies...

Summer is all about:
light clothing, linne, silk, cotton, light weight skincare with the emphasis on things like hyaluronic acid and squalene oil, salad, berries, fresh garden veggies...

What things do you notice shift this time of year?

What is this little device you ask?
It's an at home micro-needling device. There will definitely be nay-sayers out in the world about this, but from my experience and knowledge base, this is something, in the last 6 months, I have come to love.

Here's what the nay sayers will say:
1. It is unsanitary to use a device such as this multiple times...
My Answer: Clean it. It is very easy to clean and has titanium needles, this is good for at least 6 months of use.

2. It goes too deep!
My Answer: True, it does go to level 3, which in my opinion, likely can pe*****te past the epidermis on some peoples skin. This is too deep. But keeping it between 1 and 1.5 is Brilliant! A must have for sure!!

3. This should only be done by professionals.
My Answer: Every professional says this about their profession... Educate yourself a little bit and decide if it is something that you would like to try.

Why do people Micro Needle?
Well, it basically creates microtrauma to your skin. It increases blood flow to the area and also the production of collagen and elastin. It also helps with product absorbtion and allows for deeper pe*******on of products.

What we don't want to do is micro needle over open sores, active acneaic breakouts, or rashes.

Have you used any microneedling devices? Do you love it? Hate it? Go only to the spa for it?

Peptides...
They are all the rage right now, and many, many people think this is the next big path that preventive medicine is trending down. I'll have more to say about internally taken peptides at a later date, but what about peptides ON the skin?

Here's what I think... I think, though they are just hitting the mainstream market, many of us have known, at least to a degree, their benefits for years. Our Rose and Silk facial toning mist has had silk peptides in it for over 12 years now. I think that in conjunction with internally taken peptides, peptides in your skincare are a very good ingredient to utilize.

In one simple sentence, peptides help support the skin's natural renewal and structural appearance.

Hyaluronic Acid = hydrates
Squalane = moisturizes and supports the barrier
Vitamin C = brightens and provides antioxidant support
Peptides = help support the skin's natural renewal and structural appearance

Who here is either using peptides topically or internally taking them for full systems support?

Also, this may or may not be a little hint as to what is coming down the pike...

When we set out to make our lip gloss, we wanted to make something that was different than other things found on the market. Most glosses are what we call an "occlusive" in the industry. Basically, utilizing heavy, moisture-repelling ingredients like petrolatum, lanolin, beeswax, or various plant oils to form a physical seal over the lips. So they don't truly moisturize, but they look pretty. And occlusive ingredients trap any moisture you might have already inside your lips (which is a start)...

We wanted to make something using hyaluronic acid to bring moisture right into the cell structure, helping create a firmer, fuller lip. We also wanted to "feed" the lips with ceramides. Great for nourishing the lips as well as helping build their natural barrier. We used many different nutrient dense oils in the concoction, and THEN used the occlusive ingredients to trap this all inside, against your lips. This is why it works. This is why the many messages of feedback that we have received over the last few weeks state that, "I have never tried anything like this before..."

Have you tried our Pout lip gloss yet? What are your honest thoughts?

Who's getting antsy for summer?

It's been raining here for days, which I'll be first to admit, EVERYONE down the Rocky Mountain Front desperately needs. But I can also feel myself beginning to yearn for summer. Sunkissed skin, swimming in the rivers, being outside, gardening...

What are everyone's summer plans? Are you going anywhere? Any bucket list items to check off?

A year ago, I decided to dip my toe into the water of growing Daliahs. If you know daliahs, you know they are an act of hard work, a careful eye, and lots of love…

I started with 10 varieties last year, learned a great deal about seperating tubers and over wintering them (a lot by what not to do)… In September I got caught up in a dahlia scandal and single handedly decided to “go after the bad guy” on behalf of 88 people as well as my self. 🤣 never mind that I was only out $48… This redulted in talking with detectives, lawyers, the AG of Tennessee, police departments around the country, offers of jobs for detective work in two locations, and after literally 100 hours of work, flower justice was served… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Now here I am, one full year in. I have nearly 30 varietals… we’ll see where this next year takes me… 🌺 here’s to the start of another growing season….

This young man is home for the summer. He’s thrilled to be back among his friends, family and the wildness of Montana.

But I want to take just a moment to say how proud I am for him wanting to leave, to push himself into new territory. It is never easy leaving what you know and where you feel safe, for something unknown.

In February he left Montana to play baseball in Vegas. A place where his natural talent and instinct is being cultivated into so much more. Two evenings ago he was given the award of best new recruit. Stading along side of some of the best ball players in Las Vegas.

*note: he looks small standing on this stage next to these other young men. He’s 13 and the boys on either side of him are 16. 🤣
