The name Recherché is a French word finding its way up the literary ladder from the early 1700s. Its etymological background refers to a very rare item being sought out with care: exotic, of studied refinement and elegance, pertaining to obscure excellence. Now why would one choose to bring back a literary fossil as one's company name? It is because, in this day and age, desirable things have become so easy to find, driving quality of goods down for a bargain price. The word Recherché brings back to life something of the mystery of what it means to be alive, to have want, to have desire, to seek out. This natural and organic line of body care products has been created to help one tend to the daily litany of total body devotion.

Here we are at the very beginning of one of my favorite times of the year. It's chilly mornings and warm afternoons, layering clothes becomes a must. The leaves get their first hint of change; gardens are abundant, and there is the anticipatory first frost. So each morning that I wake up and it hasn't happened yet- is one more day of flowers and fresh garden food.
Do you have a favorite season?

September 11th is a day that asks us to pause.
To remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders and ordinary citizens who moved toward danger to help. It is also a day to remember the thousands who survived but carried the physical and emotional weight of that morning for years afterward.
For those who remember exactly where they were, the images and emotions have never fully faded. For younger generations, 9/11 may feel like history—but it remains part of the lives of countless families and communities.
Today is not about politics. It is about people.
It is about honoring courage, mourning lives interrupted, and remembering how deeply we are connected to one another.
May we never forget those we lost, those who served, and those who still carry the weight of September 11.
Where were you on the morning of Sept 11, 2001

If you look closely at our ingredient lists, Hyaluronic Acid is used as a base in most all of our Serums. Why you ask? Well, because it is one of those ingredients that our bodies know instinctively how to use. Every cell in our bodies (and all plant cells also) make hyaluronic acid.
But starting around 20 years old, production begins to slow. Hyaluronic Acid production falls at a rate of about 1% per year. Meaning that by the time you are 40, you have naturally lost around 15-20% of production.
What does Hyaluronic Acid do? It brings water into the cell and makes the cell as "plump" as it was during our youth. It means that each cell then takes up the amount of space that it "should". Which in turn causes less drooping, sagging, and fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic Acid is one of those behind the scenes work horses.
Over the years, skincare companies have gotten better at making Hyaluronic acid. Using differet sized molecules in the same serum to target different skin depths, but if you were to ask me, this ingredient won't be going anywhere for a long time. It is a simple product to use, and truly moisturizes from the inside out.
Do you use HA?

This may not look like much but in fact it means IT’S TIME TO SCALE…
And what a hilarious way to send me the message. A slack notification screen shot between partners.
If you need me, I’ll be over here strategizing the next 12 and 18 month scaling increments…

Dahlia’s and happiness…
Here’s the thing by the time you’ve reached your 40’s you’ve likely seen your share of sorrow and chaos. For me, now, it becomes searching for and seeking out little joy. Small pleasures.
One of these simple pleasures is gardening and even more specific, growing flowers. If you have been around here for a while, you may know that Dahlia’s are new to me basically as of this year… and watching each of these spectacularly different looking flowers grow and bloom has already offered up many hours of joy.
What kinds of things bring you small joys?

We've been fairly unsteady with posting over here the last few months. But rest assured, we have been growing the business and doing summer life! As we start settling back into a bit of regular life, it becomes important to reassess.
So my question for you is this. What kinds of content are you currently most interested in from us and other creators? I will always use stories as real life snap shots of in the moment life. But the actual feed for both Instagram and Facebook, what interests you most?
1) how to's with product
2) Ingredient information
3) personal snapshots of life (garden, travel, kids, etc)
4) what's hot in the skincare world
5) life in the day of Recherch'e
6) Videos showing what we do in real time
7) other
8) nothing at all 😂
Your feed back truly helps us going forward with content creation.

Hyaluronic Acid Isn’t Going Anywhere…
Skincare trends come and go. Ingredients explode onto the market, dominate for awhile , and then quietly make room for the next big thing.
Hyaluronic acid is different.
There’s a reason it has remained a staple in well-formulated skincare for decades: it does a fundamental job that skin always needs.
Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, meaning it attracts and holds water. And hydration isn’t trendy—it is part of healthy skin function.
When the skin is adequately hydrated, it looks plumper and smoother, fine dehydration lines are less noticeable, and the skin generally feels softer and more comfortable. Proper hydration also complements the skin barrier, which becomes increasingly important as we age and our skin naturally becomes drier and less efficient at retaining moisture.
And one of the things I appreciate most about hyaluronic acid is that it doesn't have to be aggressive to be effective, and it creates a basis for many formulas, because of the consistency and skin feel of it as an ingredient. It pairs with most everything well…
It isn't an exfoliating acid. It doesn't need to create irritation, peeling, or a dramatic "before and after" moment to earn its place in a skincare routine. It simply helps the skin maintain something it needs every single day: water.
Modern formulations have also become much more sophisticated. Different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid can be combined to create more comprehensive hydration—rather than relying on one form of HA to do everything.
So while newer ingredients will continue to arrive, hyaluronic acid isn't an ingredient I expect to see disappear.
Some ingredients are trends. Others become part of the foundation of good formulation. Hyaluronic acid has earned its place in the second category.
Is HA part of your daily routine?

Here’s the thing about long friendship, the kind that spans decades… You are lucky enough to get to watch people grow and change and become more of who they are meant to be.
Friendship that span decades, sees a lot of things, a lot of change. You get to support each other through many cycles and phases of life. It is special and precious.
I have been graced with many such friends. It is an honor to stand by them and with them.

For ages, I have had a very specific thought... What if a company, specifically a fragrance house, that I have built Recherch'e upon for the last 14 years, suddenly went out of business? What would I do? When we started our candle line, I expanded using another fragrance house, just in case.... It houses 9 of our 40+ scents.
Well, a couple of weeks ago I got to find out just exactly what I would do... Why? Because literally overnight our mainstay fragrance house closed its doors due to a family emergency. Panic wanted to set in. Instead, I put the thought aside for 2 days to regain my bearings, and then began the long process of trying to duplicate through other houses our most coveted fragrances.
2020-2022 I became very adept at handling business emergencies. In that era, it was mostly supply chain issues. I think what makes the difference between a company that will ultimately fail vs one that will succeed is how ecactly is chaos handled. How adept is the company at thinking out of the box to solve problems.... I have seen many companies, seeming better positioned than ours, go under for less.
So in the coming weeks and months, you may see some changes. Right now we have exacted about 40% of our essential oil based fragrances. We still have a long way to go, but next up are 2 of the most important: our Blackberry Sage and our Sage Sweetgrass and Cedar. These are loved by thousands of people. And we will get them figured out. We have a little leeway with back stock, but enough for maybe months not longer...
Wish us a little luck and note that we are doing our very best.
If we had to change some of our soap and lotion scents up, what scents would you like to see added to our line up? What are we missing? Now is the perfect time to add!!!
