HOCO girls, your final tan is only as good as your prep 👀 Here are three mistakes we see all the time:
1. Using an oil-based sugar scrub
Many sugar scrubs leave an oily layer behind that can prevent your tan from developing evenly. Instead, use a dry brush, textured washcloth, or exfoliating mitt with an oil-free cleanser.
2. Using strong skincare or pimple patches
If we’re spraying your face, acne treatments, exfoliating acids, retinol, spot treatments, and pimple patches can lift the color or leave pale circles behind. Stick to a gentle cleanser and moisturizer before your appointment and while you want your tan to last—and don’t bring strong products down onto your neck or chest!
(If you use prescribed acne medication, continue using it as directed and let us know. We can skip the face so you can match it with makeup instead.)
3. Waiting until right before your appointment to prep
Shave and exfoliate around 24 hours beforehand—not immediately before getting sprayed. Arrive with clean, dry skin and no lotion, deodorant, perfume, or oils.
