Mimi's Aesthetics

Today is a very special angel's birthday. I don’t talk about this often because it touches my heart so much that I can't help but feel emotional. Many clients think I opened my salon so I could work for myself and have a better schedule for my kids, but it’s much deeper than that.

My inspiration for Mimi's Aesthetics came from Brazil, from a beautiful angel named Sandra my aunt 🥰 she was the original OG esthetician. She was truly remarkable! She worked 12 hour shifts in stilettos, always dressed to impress, and even made her own wax. I remember how she constantly came up with new ideas; I still don’t understand how she managed to work and teach new estheticians I swear she must have had 48 hours in a day!

One thing I vividly remember is her dream of coming to America to share her services. In Brazil, speaking English isn’t very common, but she studied it because she believed she would one day move here. When my mom told her that we were moving to the USA, she tried to get her visa to visit us. She was so excited and still wanted to move, but at that time, her business was thriving, and starting over was a leap of faith. She decided to come visit first to see what it was like. Sadly, her visa application was denied, but she didn’t lose hope. A few months later, she applied again, and she was thrilled about the second interview. She prayed very hard and felt in her heart that she would be approved.

A few days before her interview she visited some family members to say goodbye before her trip. Unfortunately, while traveling, she contracted the H1N1 flu and sadly passed away just a few days later. She never got the chance to make her dreams come true.

When I opened Mimi’s Aesthetics, I had to put her picture in my hallway with the message: “Mimi’s Aesthetics’ Biggest Inspiration.” I told my mom that this salon belonged to her; she finally made it. I know how proud she is of both of us, to witness how many clients we serve and how much God has blessed us with such amazing people. Sandra truly inspires us to be the best we can be and she always told us the key to keeping a client is always giving them the best High quality service! We miss you everyday 🤍

A histamine reaction after waxing is quite common.

What is a histamine reaction, and why does it occur?

Waxing can be considered a “stressor” for the skin. Removing hair at the root level can cause stress to the skin, leading to the release of histamine. It is a process aimed at restoring the natural appearance and function of the eyebrows. This may involve various techniques to enhance brow shape and aesthetics, especially after over-plucking, hair loss, or trauma. The rehabilitation can include treatments like Eyebrow Design and specialized serums to promote hair growth, ultimately helping individuals achieve fuller and more defined even eyebrows.
