My sweet friend Roman. 🤍
I’ve been cutting Roman’s hair for years, and getting to watch how far he has come is one of the greatest parts of what I get to do.
Roman loves his Little People toys, organizing and categorizing ALL the things, and his newest thing is dinosaurs — specifically collecting every dinosaur he can find into one very particular spot! 🦖 He also loves some Pirate’s B***y, although once upon a time, Oreos were the haircut bribery snack of choice.
When we first started together, haircuts sent Roman straight into fight-or-flight mode. Sometimes his way of protesting was simply laying completely limp on the floor like, “absolutely not, Mrs. Elizabeth” 😂
And now?
He climbs up, settles in, watches our favorite Pocoyo in Spanish — because my smart little friend is multilingual — and actually enjoys the process! 🥹
We’ve learned what works for him. We take our time, watch what he loves, and sometimes he just needs a little hand rub or a hand to hold while I work. 🤍
There is something so special about watching a child go from simply tolerating a haircut to realizing, “I know this place. I know this person. I know what’s coming. I’m safe here.”
That’s the progress I will celebrate every single time.
I’m so proud of you, Roman. Of how much you’ve grown, how hard you’ve worked, and how far you’ve come, and how far you will go!
Onward and upward, Roman! 🦖🤍✂️

I think we officially have a new Ability Cuts record holder! 🤍⭐️
Meet my youngest client EVER — born August 1st and already coming in for his first little haircut!
I also get to cut his dad’s hair + his two big brothers, which makes getting to be a part of this tiny milestone even sweeter! 🫶🏼
And LOOK at this sweet nugget!! He came into this world with a head FULL of hair — even the cutest little sideburns that were already growing into his ears! 😂🤍
One of my favorite parts of what I do is getting to document these little moments. I can’t wait until he’s a few years older and I get to show him the pictures from the day he became my youngest haircut ever! 🥹
First haircut in the books Mr. H! ✂️⭐️🤍

One of the greatest privileges of being a children’s hairstylist isn’t cutting hair.
It’s getting a front-row seat to childhood.
Every August, I watch families prepare for another first day. Some are walking into Pre-K with backpacks almost as big as they are. Some are bravely stepping into kindergarten. Others are navigating middle school, starting high school, or packing for college.
And somehow, I get to be a tiny part of all of it.
A haircut might seem like such a small thing on the surface, but I’ve learned over the years that preparation has a way of shaping confidence. Taking that extra step—whether it’s buying new shoes, picking out the perfect backpack, or scheduling a haircut—tells a child, “This new season matters. You’re worth preparing for.”
I see it every year.
Kids walk in carrying the weight of uncertainty, boredom, excitement, nerves… sometimes all of it at once. And while a haircut doesn’t change who they are, it can become part of a fresh start. Their posture changes. Their eyes look up. They leave just a little more ready to take on whatever is waiting for them beyond those school doors.
The older I get, the more I realize these appointments were never just appointments.
The haircut every six or eight weeks becomes years.
Years become milestones.
Before I know it, the little one sitting in my chair for their first preschool haircut is telling me about their favorite teacher. Then they’re nervous about middle school. Then they’re asking for a more “grown-up” haircut before high school starts. And one day, they’re telling me where they’re headed for college.
Some of these children have grown up right in front of me.
What an incredible gift that is.
Thank you for trusting me with your babies through every chapter. Thank you for letting me celebrate the first days, the hard days, the exciting days, and all the ordinary ones in between.
I’ll never take for granted that what looks like “just a haircut” is often woven into the story of a child’s life.
Here’s to another school year, another fresh start, and another season of watching these incredible kids grow into exactly who they’re meant to be.

Thankful for every single family that walks in, and that can walk out with a testimony of hope and a better experience than they’ve had before elsewhere! 🤍
