Showing up with freshly washed hair!

I totally get it…You want to feel clean and fresh. But it’s better to skip washing the day before!

A little natural oil on your scalp actually helps protect your skin during the process (especially with blonding or lightener).

So here's what I recommend:
✅ Avoid washing your hair 24 hours before your appointment
✅ Don’t use dry shampoo or root touch up powders/sprays either
✅ Brush it through and let me handle the rest!

❌ NOTE: This doesn’t mean to come in with 4-5 day dirty hair either. Ideally washing your hair 2 days before is the best!

Somebody asked me recently, "Mika confess, what do you like coloring better: blondes or
brunettes?"

Oh my gosh, it feels like an impossible question!!

It's like asking me to choose between donuts and ice cream I'll take the donut with the
Ice cream on top please!

So here's the answer....

My favorite thing about blondes is that no two are ever the same. Creating the perfect
blonde to me is truly an art form and I don't think I've ever used the same application and
formulation twice. I see every blonde guest as a unique opportunity to create blonde
perfection and that is just so fun.

My favorite thing about brunettes is the surprise factor. Nobody ever just has "brown hair."
We've got our golden browns, our coppers, our deep burgundy brunettes. We can do
amazing brunette balayages and I love being able to shock and awe with the possibilities. I
think most stylists find brunettes kind of dull, but to me it's like an opportunity to really be
creative.

So as you can see...the donut AND the ice cream! 🍩 🍨

Alright, I said it - now let me explain why…

The one and O N L Y purpose of purple shampoo is to lessen the appearance of yellow tones.

And to throw a little bit of color theory at you, the only kind of highlights that will fade to yellow is the kind that has been lightened to a pale blonde.

So if your hair is anything less than platinum (i.e. honey blonde, caramel, gold, etc.), purple shampoo will do approximately nothing for you

It will not make your highlights brighter or less brassy - in fact, it will likely make them seem less bright and almost muddy looking over time.
