The Weight You Shouldn’t Carry Regret and guilt can feel unbearable when someone we love dies, especially when we didn’t realize how sick they were. It’s unfair. And it’s not your fault. We can’t always know the truth of someone else’s body, their choices, or their limits. We trust their words, and sometimes, they believe them too. But carrying the weight of what we didn’t know, what we weren’t told, or what we wish we had done differently won’t change what happened—it only adds to the pain. You don’t have to carry that. You loved them. You did what you could with what you knew.
