LEVEL 1 BLACK → COWBOY COPPER 🤠🧡

This was a PROCESSSSS and I wanted to share exactly how we got here because you would never guess this started as a level 1!

We started with level 1 black hair with artificial color, so our first goal was to remove as much of that color buildup as we could before attempting to lift.

✨ STEP 1: Malibu DDL XL
We did a Malibu DDL XL treatment for 45 minutes under heat to help break down and remove the artificial color.

✨ STEP 2: BLEACH CAP
After removing as much of the artificial color as possible, we went in with a bleach cap to continue lifting and get our canvas where we needed it for the copper.

✨ STEP 3: COLOR
Once we had our canvas, it was time for the fun part — creating her cowboy copper 🤠🧡

ROOT FORMULA:
07CB + 07CC + a tiny amount of red/copper-red

✨ STEP 4: GLAZE
Finished everything off with a glaze to perfect the tone, add shine and give us that rich, dimensional copper finish.

And THIS is why color transformations like this are a process. You can’t always take a level 1 with years of artificial color and expect to get to your end goal in one step. Creating the right canvas first is such a huge part of getting the color you actually want while still being mindful of the integrity of the hair.
