Baby girl is due in T-minus 4 weeks! 🤩

Once she arrives I will be on maternity leave for 8 weeks. That puts me coming back about the first week of October. If you’re wanting to schedule something before I go I suggest you do it now as I have limited availability before she is set to arrive!

The simple answer, everything costs more.

But that’s not the full story of the beauty industry.

The full story is that for years and years we didn’t charge enough to make a livable wage.

That’s a big part of why double booking everyone became the industry standard.

Raise prices or take more clients each day.

While I don’t fault anyone for double booking, there are many services you just can’t double book anymore, even if you wanted to.

Our industry has largely shifted from speed and quantity, to quality and integrity.

We’re not the only ones that wanted this, our clients did too.

Does this mean that all services are expensive?

No, not at all. But even simple services have to cost more than they did 10 years ago because everything is more expensive than it was 10 years ago.

As consumers we shop at stores that consistently raise prices and we realize that’s just how the system works.

Somehow that concept isn’t applied to our industry by all consumers, which is a huge reason why many stylists and salons are scared to raise prices.

We anticipate push back or disappointment from our clients, and we want them to be happy.

The problem is, we can’t sacrifice our businesses because clients don’t want to pay more for services when they have to pay more for everything else. It’s just the way things are and we actually don’t have any control over that.

When stylists can’t afford to live, we can’t afford to keep working the same way.

There’s just no way around it.
