Fall is right around the corner, which means it’s a great time to check in with your at-home skincare routine.

Just like we change our wardrobe with the seasons, sometimes our skincare needs a few changes too.

As temperatures cool and humidity starts to drop, you may notice your skin feeling tighter, drier, more sensitive or just a little different than it did during the summer months.

That doesn’t necessarily mean your entire routine needs an overhaul. Sometimes your skin simply needs different ingredients or a few small adjustments for the season ahead.

Take a look at your cleanser
If your skin feels tight or squeaky clean after cleansing, it may be time for something gentler or more hydrating. Your cleanser should leave your skin feeling clean, but still comfortable.

Evaluate your hydration
Ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid and panthenol can help attract and hold water in the skin. If your skin feels dehydrated or tight, adding more humectant support can make a big difference.

Check your moisturizer
The lightweight moisturizer that was perfect during warm, humid summer weather may not be enough going into fall. You may benefit from more nourishing and barrier-supportive ingredients like ceramides, cholesterol and squalane.

Dont forget your skin barrier
If you’re noticing new sensitivity, redness, flaking or irritation, your skin may be asking you to pull back on exfoliation and stronger actives while adding more calming and barrier-supportive ingredients.

Keep the SPF
Summer may be ending, but sunscreen season is not. Daily SPF is still one of the most important parts of your morning routine, especially if we’re working on pigmentation and age management.

The biggest thing to remember is that your skincare routine doesn’t have to stay exactly the same all year long. Your skin changes and your routine should change with it.

I have recently brought in a few new moisturizer options at Blur Beauty, and I thought this would be the perfect time to explain a little more about what I carry and why I may recommend one moisturizer for you and something completely different for someone else.

Dry skin, dehydrated skin, a compromised barrier, sensitive or reactive skin and aging skin can all feel like they need more moisture, but what those skins actually need can be very different.

So, here is a little breakdown of my current moisturizer lineup and how I choose which one is right for you.

Enriched Moisture

For: Dry skin + nourishment + comfort

If you are someone who has just always been dry, this is such a beautiful everyday moisturizer.

Enriched Moisture combines hydration with nourishing ingredients like glycerin, squalane and wheat germ oil to soften the skin, replenish moisture and give dry skin that comfortable, hydrated feeling.

This is the one I reach for when your skin is naturally lacking oil and needs more nourishment, but we are not necessarily dealing with a damaged or depleted barrier.

I choose this when: Your skin is naturally dry and wants a really good, nourishing moisturizer.

4 Defy Gel Cream

For: Lightweight hydration + preventative age management

This is such a good option for my clients who want hydration without a heavy cream.

It contains glycerin and hyaluronic acid for hydration, along with squalane and ceramide NP for barrier support. It also gives us peptides, antioxidants and postbiotic support, so you are getting quite a bit of skin support in a lightweight gel-cream texture.

I love this for normal, combination or dehydrated skin, younger clients starting to think about age management, or really anyone who says, “I hate feeling like I have moisturizer sitting on my face.”

I choose this when: You want lightweight hydration with some added barrier and age-management benefits.

Ultra Benefits

For: Brightening + antioxidants + age management

This is where I start thinking beyond moisture and asking, what else do we want your moisturizer to accomplish?

Ultra Benefits contains peptides and powerful antioxidants along with Chromabright, a targeted brightening ingredient. This makes it a great option when we are working on sun damage, discoloration, dullness and visible signs of aging while still giving the skin the moisture it needs.

I choose this when: You want your moisturizer helping with hydration AND brightness, pigmentation and aging.

Moisture Riche Cream

For: Barrier support + lipid replenishment + serious hydration

This one has a very specific place on my shelf, and I am really excited about it.

Our skin barrier relies on a healthy balance of lipids, and when those lipids become depleted, simply putting a heavier moisturizer on top is not always the answer.

Moisture Riche contains biomimetic ceramides + cholesterol + squalane to help replenish important lipids and support a stronger, healthier skin barrier.

But it also addresses the water side of hydration with hyaluronic acid and amino acids, helping hydrate and plump the skin while supporting its ability to hold onto that moisture.

This is one I really love for dry AND dehydrated skin, mature or lipid-deficient skin, compromised barriers, over-exfoliated skin or skin that just cannot seem to stay moisturized no matter what you put on it.

I choose this when: Your skin does not simply need more cream — it needs hydration AND lipid/barrier support.

Circadia Tranquil Cream

For: Sensitive + red + reactive skin

This is my calming-focused moisturizer.

When someone’s biggest concern is redness, sensitivity or reactivity, I am thinking differently than I am with someone who is simply dry.

Tranquili-Cream was formulated to help soothe and support sensitive, redness-prone skin while providing moisture and barrier support.

And because sensitive skin can be incredibly individual, I always pay attention to how your skin responds. A product can be formulated for sensitive skin and still not be the perfect fit for every sensitive person.

I choose this when: Your skin needs moisture, but calming redness and reactivity is one of our main goals.

Circadia NighTime Repair

For: Vitamin A + nighttime renewal + age management

I think of Nighttime Repair as more of a treatment moisturizer than simply a nighttime cream.

It combines hydration and barrier-supportive ingredients with vitamin A, peptides, antioxidants and niacinamide, so while you sleep we are also working on the appearance of fine lines, texture, dullness and overall skin renewal.

Because it contains vitamin A, this is not necessarily where I start if your skin is currently very irritated or sensitized. I want your barrier in a good place before asking your skin to do more.

I choose this when: You want your nighttime moisturizer actively working on skin renewal and visible aging.

Factor Five Anti Aging Cream

For: Growth factors + peptides + advanced age management

This is where we really step into advanced regenerative skincare.

What makes Factor Five so different is its human stem cell conditioned media, which contains naturally secreted signaling proteins including growth factors and cytokines.

Growth factors act as messengers within the skin, and in skincare they are used to support the skin’s natural communication and renewal processes and improve the appearance of aging skin.

Factor Five then combines that technology with copper tripeptide and additional peptides, plus niacinamide, green tea and vitamin E.

This is the moisturizer I reach for when someone’s goals are really focused on fine lines, firmness, elasticity, texture and overall skin rejuvenation, especially when we are already incorporating regenerative treatments or Factor Five products into their plan.

I choose this when: You want advanced age management and specifically want growth-factor and peptide technology incorporated into your home care.

So…which moisturizer do YOU need?

This is exactly why I carry multiple options!

I am never just looking at whether your skin is “dry.” I am looking at your oil production, hydration level, barrier health, sensitivity, pigmentation, age-management goals, current products and even what texture you actually enjoy using.

And your moisturizer can change! What your skin needs in July may be completely different from what it needs in January. Your normal moisturizer may also temporarily change if we are repairing your barrier, introducing new actives or doing more advanced treatments.

That is the beauty of customized skincare.

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share a quick update to my schedule. Beginning September 21st, my new hours at Blur Beauty will be:

Monday: 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Tuesday: 11:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Wednesday: 11:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Thursday: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM

With my son getting more involved in after-school activities, my evening availability will be more limited moving forward. Because of that, I won’t have the same flexibility to squeeze in appointments or stay later than my scheduled hours.

If you tend to need a specific day or time—especially an evening appointment—I highly recommend prebooking your next one or two appointments so you can get the times that work best for you.

If you already have an appointment scheduled outside of these new hours, no worries at all! Any existing appointments will remain exactly as scheduled. I simply won’t be taking new appointments during those previous times moving forward.

As always, I truly appreciate your understanding and your continued support of Blur Beauty. I’m so grateful to have such wonderful clients and appreciate you working with me as I balance my schedule between my business and family. 🤍
