My beautiful Client was wanting to embrace her natural color more.

to achieve this color, I chose the reverse balayage technique by going in and adding depth to break up her previous highlights. I still want to maintain dimension, so I went in and did very fine slices to retouch some of her previously highlighted hair. At the very end, I went in and added a root tap just to soften the highlights at the root to create a soft grow out for her.

you can still see that her hair with adding in the step still has beautiful dimension! Wouldn’t you agree?!

Mise en place

As I was getting ready for my first client today, a barbering client! 😊 I was getting my tray ready and said to myself “Miss ‘em place”. It’s a French culinary term that means to prepare and organize your ingredients and/or tools before you begin cooking.

Do you “Mise en place” with your station or if you work in an office your desk before you start working?

Strike a pose! 🤣

Getting your have styled by someone else feels so good! When someone else blow dries my hair is the BEST!

Blow drying is an art form. Weird right?! It really is! When blow drying your hair it you’re desiring more volume at the roots you want to blow dry the hair in the opposite direction that your hair lays. If you’re desiring more movement in your style blowing drying it from side to side will give it your hair a sweeping motion to it when you move your hair.

Let me know in the comments what you need help with when it comes to blow drying your hair!

is not only one of my biggest cheerleaders in my career but she’s also a great friend a talented stylist, a great travel buddy and someone I miss working with so much!

To create this look I used Silk Control Ash (by far my FAVORITE lightener). When going in, I creating bolder faceframing highlights transitioning into a subtle dimensional highlight throughout her part-line for a softer grown out. With still giving her bright piece on the underneath so give her that POP of brightness when she curls is. For the root tap I went in with Colorance Core 40 mls 2% Lotion 15 mls 6BP 5 mls 5MB. For the glaze on the mids and ends I wanted to keep it a golden honey tone I used 60 mls 2% lotion 10 mls 6sb 10 mls 8sb 10 mls 7gb.

Time to let your natural texture be free?!

Here’s my go to tip, ticks and products I use on my curls!

I know this sounds unconventional but leave your conditioner in your mid-strand and end. Think about, your conditioner is glue! It’s going to help keep your curls together and moisturized, like a deep condition treatment! The best thing to do when it comes to putting conditioner in your hair is just put it on your hair rake through it with your fingers or a wide tooth to evenly distribute it. Then what I would do is scrunch out any excess conditioner and you will start forming your curl pattern!
This one is the MOST important! DON’T COMB OUT YOUR HAIR AFTER YOU GET OUT OF THE SHOWER!!! You may ask why that is, when you comb your hair you’re disrupting your curl pattern that you just scrunched in while you were in the shower.

Use a microfiber towel to get out any excess moisture in your hair. You may ask why a microfiber towel and not a towel… a microfiber is smooth and it is not going to rough up your cuticle like a towel would! A lot of times that’s what’s causing frizziness to your hair! Remember to scrunch, don’t rough!

Mist in Leave-in MoistRepair Conditioner to prep your hair as your scrunch your curls in!

Next, use a quarter size Curl Balm by This is going to be the glue that keeps your curl pattern together and eliminate unruly frizz. (You can also use this product as a leave-in conditioner for when your hair needs that extra love!)
It’s time to dry! When drying my curls I ALWAYS use a diffuser. When drying my hair I like to start at the roots. Why? Your hair retains moisture at the roots and it takes the longest time to dry! When drying my roots, I flip my hair to the opposite side it lays on. This will ensure you gain volume at the roots! Once, I feel the roots are dry I will then work on my mid-strands and ends.

Once, my hair is dry I will add a pea size of Bond Pro Day and Night Bond Booster to help smooth out those drier ends!
Lastly, I’ll hit my roots with Makeover Spray to give my hair a little extra lift but it’ll also absorb natural oils as they produce
I hope this helps!
