Here’s the tea. I tried to rename this page, but Facebook says it takes 60 days to approve so I started the new page and then I tried to merge the two pages (which I’ve been able to do with every other business page I’ve ever had)but now Facebook says that will also take 60 days. Who has time for that? Going forward, I am “Atypical Beauty & Advanced Esthetics”.

Here’s the colder tea: I decided to go to cosmetology school to learn nails. I began this journey October of 2023. At that time, I had a job lined up in a salon to be started as soon as I graduated. While in nail school, I found that I loved esthetics so I enrolled in that program too. Esthetic services were offered at the salon I was planning to work at so ~winner for all! Between completing the nail then esthetics programs, I was informed that the salon I had believed I’d be working at would no longer be offering nail services. (No shade thrown - it’s just what happened)
This bit of news came as a total surprise and I was forced to make some hard decisions.
As many of you know, I have to kids on the spectrum. Any career I embark on needs to have a flexible schedule that works for them. Do I just roll the dice and hope I can find somewhere to work that is extremely understanding OR do I take a sharp right turn and go on a completely new adventure and start my own salon?
After starting my basic esthetics program, I found that I was very interested in advanced esthetics too. Soooo, here we go (or went 😉). I will graduate advanced esthetics next week. I’m currently a licensed nail tech and esthetician. I opened a new licensed beauty facility in Brookings. We are now taking appointments and our Grand Opening is in the next few weeks!
