I never planned to start a skincare brand.
After being diagnosed with eczema, I was told I would likely need medications and steroids long-term. But I kept asking myself: what if there was another way?
Growing up in Jamaica, my grandmother always had a remedy. “Go pick some cerasee. Go pick this bush. Go pick that bush.”
Years later, those lessons brought me back to my roots.
As I searched for ingredients that would help nourish dry, sensitive skin, one word kept appearing over and over again: *emollient.*
That’s when it clicked.
“This is my emollient.”
And that’s how My Emollient was born.
As we celebrate Caribbean Heritage Month, I’m grateful for the wisdom passed down through generations and the inspiration that helped shape this brand.

Some of the best business advice doesn’t happen in a boardroom.
It happens around a dinner table.
This weekend, I had the opportunity to connect with a room full of brilliant Black women founders who are building, growing, pivoting, and dreaming big. The conversations were refreshing, inspiring, and exactly what I didn’t know I needed.

As we close out Women’s History Month, I’m reflecting on the women I’ve had the opportunity to share space with.
In Morocco at the , I connected with the founder , a woman-owned brand from Nigeria. We were both part of the event as founders, building from our roots in different ways.
Conversations like these go deeper than the surface, we’re now exploring sourcing ingredients and essential oils through connections like this, because where things come from matters.
