Loc installation with extensions is a specialized service that requires proper knowledge, experience, and technique. It is not a one-size-fits-all process. Hair density, texture, scalp health, and the weight and length of the extensions must all be carefully considered.
When extensions are installed incorrectly, they can cause excessive tension on the scalp, thinning edges, breakage, weak roots, and even long-term damage to the natural hair. A poor installation may look good at first, but over time it can affect the health and integrity of your locs.
As a professional Microloc, Sisterlock, and Loc specialist, I believe that healthy locs start with a proper foundation. My goal is not just to give you the look you want today, but to ensure your locs remain strong, healthy, and beautiful for years to come.

Why you should never compare your locs to others

Stop Comparing Your Locs to Other People’s Locs

As a professional loctician, one of the biggest mistakes I see people make is comparing their loc journey to someone else’s.

What many people don’t realize is that locs are influenced by several factors, including hair texture, density, scalp health, maintenance routine, lifestyle, and even genetics. Because of this, no two sets of locs will ever look exactly the same.

Just because someone else’s locs are longer, thicker, or maturing faster does not mean your locs are unhealthy or doing something wrong. Every loc journey has its own timeline.

Instead of focusing on someone else’s progress, focus on keeping your locs healthy, clean, and properly maintained. Growth takes time, and consistency always pays off.

Remember: Healthy locs are the goal, not identical locs.

You don’t need repair appointments if you do the following:

1. Stay consistent with your retie schedule
2. Follow all aftercare instructions properly
3. Keep your scalp and locs clean
4. Avoid excessive tension and over-styling
5. Protect your locs while sleeping
6. Use the right products recommended for your hair
7. Be gentle with your locs during washing and styling

Healthy Microlocs and Sisterlocks require intentional care, consistency, and proper maintenance. Prevention is always better than repair. ✨

Five Reasons Why You Should Never Skip Your Retie Appointment for Your Microlocs or Sisterlocks

1. Healthy maintenance prevents breakage
Consistent reties help keep your roots strong and balanced. When maintenance is skipped for too long, tension becomes uneven and can cause thinning or breakage.
2. Proper maintenance keeps your grid clean
Your grid is the foundation of your locs. Staying on schedule helps maintain neat parts and prevents locs from marrying or growing together.
3. Reties help your locs grow healthier
Healthy maintenance encourages proper growth and keeps your locs looking fresh, strong, and beautiful over time.
4. Skipping appointments can lead to weak roots
Too much new growth without maintenance can put stress on the root area, causing weak spots that may eventually damage your hair.
5. Consistent maintenance protects your investment
Microlocs and Sisterlocks are a luxury commitment. Proper upkeep helps preserve the beauty, fullness, and longevity of your install.
