Hey all, we've had a lot going on over here. And the truth is, we haven't quite been able to keep up.

So, we've decided to temporarily close up shop, starting this Saturday. For the next few weeks, we'll be working on planning and reorganizing, and trying to figure out where we want Belham & Co. to go from here. There are so many ideas and so many different directions to go in, and we are trying to pinpoint exactly what we want our goals to be going forward. 🌱

Until then, we've marked down everything in our online store by half - that's right, all the soap we have left is half off, no codes or anything needed. We will be processing and packing the remaining orders, hopefully within the next few days, and then closing up for a little while to plan and reprioritize. We won't be open to retail or wholesale orders during this time, but we'll do our best to keep you posted! Thank y'all for the constant support. We appreciate you! 🎃

How's your summer going? Over here at Belham & Co., we are spending these warm, sunny days restocking, delivering soap orders, and planning for the future.

We've got several classics in our soap bar lineup that are overdue for some changes here and there. We are working on tweaking old formulations with some new goals in mind so that we have even better products going forward. You may have already noticed a few little differences -- a few months ago, we started phasing out the goat's milk in all of our soap bars except the Oats & Goats bar, for one example. We are trying to focus on less animal-based ingredients and work more with plant & botanical derived ingredients, especially local or native sources. In several of our products, we've shifted away from mineral-derived colorants and moved towards plant-based colors. And, of course, like many other business, we've had to handle shortages of some ingredients due to supply chain issues, and had to reformulate here and there.

We have a few other fun ideas we're working on, including some new coastal-inspired scents and some brand new products, many of which are inspired by native flora. We will keep you posted, just keep watching!

Spent the last few moments of daylight in the garden, gathering little pinches of petals and handfuls of herbs. I set them all out to dry for making infusions later. 🌿 I am always wrapped up with the garden in the springtime; watching plants sprout, grow, and bloom makes me genuinely happy. Plus, This year, I've been focusing on adding many Georgia natives to the mix, including swamp rose mallow, echinacea, spotted beebalm, swamp sunflower (if you haven't caught on, we live in a really wet place 🤣) and more.

I am making it my goal this year to learn more about the usefulness of our local flora, and hope to incorporate some of these into my skin care creations -- but also, we (myself, Michael, and our two kids) can't wait for them to bloom so we can watch for all the birds, butterflies, and bees. What are your favorite southeast Georgia native plants? I'd love to hear about them.

Hey y'all, it has certainly been a little while, hasn't it?

We have definitely been all but silent on social media lately, and many friends and followers have reached out to us to check in. So I have been trying to make a point of dropping in with some pretty soap photos. 🧼 March was a bit busy for us over here, to say the least, and I feel like we just haven't quite bounced back yet. Michael has been out of town for work more than usual, one of my little ones hardly slept for three weeks (add in some daylight savings time changes, of course 🙃), and a handful of other hectic things happened. I have been trying to be more mindful and spend less time on social media and more time present with my two kids, and it worked a little too well. 😅 Throw in all the usual craziness of day-to-day life, and I look up and well over a month has passed, and April is already halfway done! Oops.

So, even though you haven't heard from us much, our online store is now nearly fully restocked with everyone's favorites. We've been filling regular orders for our local retailers, too. I am doing my best to keep the orders heading out the door with as little delay as possible! Thanks to everyone who has checked in. I'm going to do my best to keep the updates coming in more regularly! 🌱

It's been a long time since we did a , so I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. 🌱

I'm Lacy! My husband Michael and I are the two faces behind-the-scenes at Belham & Co. I handle all kinds of stuff here, including product formulation and packaging design, as well as social media & the website.

I was born and grew up here in southeast Georgia. I have two young kids (Brigid & Torben), and one furry child (our dog, Ragnarok). I am 32 (my birthday was yesterday! 😁). Before I worked for myself (and often in addition to), I did all sorts of things. I have worked nearly every position in the restaurant industry. I've worked in the legal field (I actually have a degree in justice studies/pre-law, as well as a paralegal certificate) and I have worked in marketing, social media, and customer service, too.

As a child, I spent way too much of my free time in the patches of woods near my home, letting my imagination run wild. I have happy childhood memories of collecting various flowers, leaves, and berries, and storing them in little sun-dried pots I'd crafted from slippery blue Georgia clay I'd dug out of the ground. 🌿 For as long as I can remember, I've had a deep respect and reverence for nature and the Earth.

Many of my days inside were spent reading books, writing stories, or filling up my sketchbook. Then, when I was nine, we got internet at home for the first time (this was back in 1999!) and I immediately started teaching myself to create websites and learn coding.

It seems all of my interests eventually came together when I was in college at Georgia Southern University. During my time there, I often crafted my own simple, herb-based skincare products, often because I could never find exactly what I needed in the small college town. It was also a means of creative expression and connection with nature that could be done from inside my little apartment. From there, Michael and I eventually created our little soap company, but that's another story for another day. 🌱 Keep watching, because over our next few posts, we'll be talking more about how and why we started our company, and what our new goals and dreams are going forward. 🌟

If you've been wondering where we've been, we have been quietly working behind the scenes to get ourselves ready for 2022. 🌱 It has been a busy year for us so far already! I want this year to be better for us, in so many ways, and so we are taking care to re-open only after we have sufficiently restocked (with your old favorites like lotion, shampoo bars, etc) and ready to ship orders out quickly. 📦

We've also been trying to refocus our business and our goals after a rocky 2020 & 2021. Hello all! We are temporarily closing up the online store until after Thanksgiving to give ourselves a little break. 🦃

The past few months for us have been pretty hectic. Behind the scenes, we have a lot going on, and I'm finding less and less time to get into the office & workshop. At the same time, we have seen an increase in orders (because y'all are awesome!). Throw in some new supply chain problems that we really thought had been mostly resolved over six months ago (things like shampoo bar ingredients, lotion jars, certain shipping materials), and I am finding myself falling farther and farther behind on filling orders and restocking products.

I really, really do not like how long processing times have gotten. I am up many nights well past midnight trying to make products, respond to emails, wrap soap, and fill orders, and still can't quite keep up. Unfortunately, I just can't add any extra hours to the day. But I really want to get our holiday products finished and out in a much more timely manner, so I've decided that for the next week, we will be closed to new orders. The goal is to get the current pile of open orders out the door, plus get our new holiday products all ready to go in order to speed up our processing times. We also hope to establish set local delivery days for December, so you will know when to expect your items. Maybe we'll even manage a bit of rest in there (I certainly hope so 😜).

I really appreciate the patience everyone has given us so far this year - it means more than y'all know. It feels like we've been in a whirlwind since 2020 began, but I'm hoping that in 2022, many of our issues will be resolved and we'll be moving along more quickly and efficiently. Thank you all for supporting us through all of this.
