I’ve been tossing around the idea of offering curly hair classes for a while, and I’ve decided it’s time to actually try it!

I talk to so many people who have had curly hair their entire lives and still say, “I have no idea what to do with it.”

And honestly, that’s where the idea for Curl Academy came from.

This isn’t a class where you sit and watch me style someone else’s hair. You’re going to learn on YOUR own curls.

We’ll talk about products and how to figure out what your hair needs, then get hands-on with product application, water balance, using a brush to help shape and encourage your curls, scrunching and diffusing.

And I’ll be right there helping you figure out the things we all wonder about…
Do I need more water? Am I using too much product? Why is this section frizzing? Why aren't my curls clumping?

I don’t want you to leave knowing how I style curly hair.
I want you to leave understanding YOUR hair and feeling confident styling it at home.

Every August, our family heads to Jo Mary Lake to disconnect, unwind, and recharge. It's one of my favorite traditions—a chance to trade the salon for campfires, quiet mornings on the lake, and making memories with my favorite people.

Taking this time away helps me come back refreshed, inspired, and so excited to be behind the chair again, creating beautiful hair for all of you. 💛

My client came in with previous color that had become overly warm and uneven through the lengths. Our goal was to soften the warmth, add brightness in the right places, and bring the cut back to life with fresh movement.
For this appointment we focused on:
• soft multi-tone blonding
• balancing warmth and brightness
• refreshing the layers for movement
The result is a blonde that feels brighter, softer, and more natural while keeping the hair healthy.
Sometimes the most beautiful transformations aren’t extreme — they’re about refining what’s already there and creating color that grows out beautifully.

Most people don’t realize their curls change pattern across their head.
It’s incredibly common to have multiple curl textures at once.
In her hair, the crown grows in softer 2C–3A curls while the underneath forms tighter 3A–3B spirals.
When curls like this are cut evenly, some areas can feel flat while others become bulky or difficult to manage.
