For years, I worked behind the scenes in 𝙇𝙤𝙨 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨 on 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙢, 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙥𝙚𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙨, both as a celebrity 𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙧 and 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙪𝙥 artist and 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙩-𝙙𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 shoots of my own. I fell in love with creating an entire visual world around a woman.

Hair and makeup have always been at the heart of what I do, but 𝙄 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 so styling, proportion, texture, movement, and the way 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 have always been part of how I see an image.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧.

As a makeup artist and hairstylist, 𝗜 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆. I'm thinking about how the hair frames the face, how the makeup reads in the light, and how a change in hairstyle can completely shift the feeling of an image.

Like with this shoot, I loved being able to change the hair midway through, because a hairstyle doesn't have to define an entire series of images. It can change with the mood, the wardrobe, the setting, or the story we're telling.

𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚.

Not simply hair and makeup for a photo shoot, but an opportunity to 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 - from beauty and wardrobe to location, direction, and photography.

After 20+ years of creating in Los Angeles, I've now brought that experience to Greenville 💄+ 📸 🙌

𝙈𝙮 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙪𝙥 𝙗𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙝...
And honestly, that's much more common than most people realize.

𝙈𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙗𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙙𝙤 𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢, and that's exactly why I love offering personal makeup lessons.

She's a busy business owner and mom to a little one, so 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚. She wanted something 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡, 𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 - whether she is spending the day with her family or meeting with vendors.

𝘽𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙, we went through the products she brought with her, color matched them to her skin, and talked through any questions she had so she felt confident knowing what would work best for her - before moving on to application.

Her typical makeup routine consisted of foundation, eyeliner, and blush. 𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙬, 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙧, 𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙯𝙚𝙧, 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙧, 𝙤𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙚𝙮𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙨, so it was such a joy to introduce those steps in a way that still felt like her.
