That’s a wrap, Muse. Thank you for 6 years of experiences, love, lessons, growth, memories, good times, hard times. We’ve been through a lot together. You have given me a huge chapter to be thankful for. I started this with Dawson as my first client, and I’m closing it with Dawson as my last client. I will miss so many clients that I’m used to seeing as they visit their favorite stylists. I’ll miss the vibe of our team. I’ll miss the beauty we created. Thank you to everyone that has made the last six years possible. Without the love and support of our stylists and clients, muse wouldn’t have existed.

I was once told I would never be successful in this town, when I chose to leave the big world of Raleigh behind.

Little did he know, I was already a success in my own heart…because I was taking a leap of faith in my business, by starting my own business with one client in my chair. Yes, one client.

Success to me is a feeling. Success is always growing in each piece of me. Success is never allowing less than I’m capable of. You can be successful yet still evolving. Success isn’t a destination, it’s the journey. Success is the legacy of what you’ll one day leave behind for others to create their own success.

Business owners this one is for you…..Stop justifying your price increase!

Today we are wrapping up our first quarterly business retreat of 2022. What I love the most about facilitating business retreats is the ability to connect and share with other women and stylists. I’ve always had a passion for education. Our industry has some of the best educators that teach a multitude of specialties. What isn’t taught often enough is business, profit and loss, productivity, growth and scaling. Business classes aren’t seen as sexy and exciting, so often times they get overlooked.

Last year after more than a decade behind the chair, almost six years of leadership, transitioning from 32 chair salons to a boutique style of 3, I decided it was time to share more education outside of my time behind the chair with clients.

If you’re apologizing for having to raise your prices…..STOP! You didn’t create the inflation of supply cost. Our businesses have survived during a pandemic. I want to hug each of you when I see your post. I could go on and on about this one topic alone. If you need mentoring, I’m here to listen and help you navigate your business into safe waters. Muse is rolling into year 6 of existence, and today I’m putting the final details into the 2022 action plans, wrapping up the final pages of 2021 journaling and sealing it with a kiss. Every year is assigned a power word. I highly recommend starting your year with a simple word or phrase that keeps you in your zone and on your path of peace. Former words that I have connected with, connect-release-curate-rebirth (thanks .mrs.rodrigues ) and pivot. I’d love to hear yours ❤️

As we roll into year six, I want to acknowledge our team for supporting and upholding the culture of Muse. When your heart and head are in alignment, all things are easy to navigate. You guys have given me so many laughs this year. I love creepily watching you both working behind the chair with smiles on everyone’s faces. The energy of the space is so light and cozy, just what my sensory issues needs 😂 Truly, I am so grateful to have your support in what we are doing to change the salon experience for stylists and clients.
