Ms. America's Elite Educator

Last night, I got to attend the annual The Way We See the World. Now in its fifth year, The Way We See the World is a free, community-centered event spotlighting Indigenous self-representation in the current media and cultural landscape. Presented by Museum of the Cherokee People, the Tribal museum of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, The Way We See the World offers a platform for Native artists who challenge stereotypes and share stories with heart, humor, and bold vision.

This morning, I stopped by the 25th Annual Talking Trees Children’s Trout Derby at Oconaluftee Island Park to welcome all of the kids and families who came out for this wonderful community tradition. It was great to see so many young anglers excited to spend the day outdoors, learn something new, and make memories with their families. Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who makes this event possible each year!

"The path towards success was never guaranteed to be easy. With unwavering faith, presereverance and patience, anything is possible." Yesterday, I traveled to Burlington to watch the Supreme International pageant. This pageant is a previous pageant I took part in and held two titles, as well as, lifetime queen. It was great to catch up with some of my sash sisters and see the new cohort be crowned for the 2026 reign.

How do you celebrate the 4th of July? I spent the weekend here at the Annual 4th of July powwow here in here Cherokee. Various tribes throughout Indian Country come to compete in various dances. It has been great to see all of my pow wow friends and family.

Ms. AEE in the ATL! Today, we got to come down and watch the Atlanta Braves take on the Milwaukee Brewers for EBCI night. Gotta give a shout out to my brother for getting me tickets to the game.

Otsaliheliga nusdvi nitsadvnelvi. We are grateful to all of you who served. On this day, much of the country celebrates the soliders that have fallen in the line of duty. Cherokee people have used this day to remember not only the warriors that have walked on, but to remember all those that came before. Egwa sgi ayosgi.

"We will be known forever by the tracks we leave." Saturday we got to enjoy a bit of clear sky's as we enjoyed the Annual Seven Clans rodeo. Got to see some of my students as they had their last day Friday. One of my students won the mutton busting for the evening and even got to pet a horse. Overall it was a great experience for anyone to enjoy.

"With each sunrise, we are given the gift of another chance to make a difference" Today I got to spend the day at Darnell Farms annual Strawberry Jam. We started off with the Little Miss and Mr Strawberry Jam competition. I got to cheer on some young ones showcasing their love of the fruit and a student of mine won Junior Miss Strawberry Jam. I also got to meet Miss Irie who is gonna be vying for America's International Miss this upcoming August.

Superhero Every Child Matters Walk and Ride, hosted by EBCI Public Health & Human Services Division in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month. It was good to see our community come together in support of our children. Events like this remind us that protecting and caring for our kids is something we all share responsibility for. Thank you to everyone who helped organize and take part today.
