I will be at the Sedro-Woolley Eagles vendor event tomorrow from 10-5. 1000 Metcalf Street. I started my soap business journey over a year ago, and it is funny how the path twists and changes along the way. My original intent was to make beautiful hand-made soaps that don't dry out your skin. Along the way I started studying the history of soap and classic soaps that have been made by civilizations for centuries. This brought me to develop my Netarts Castile soap, a variation on a soap made in the south of France with sea water from the Mediterranean for hundreds of years. After this, I started studying the benefits of salt for healthy skin and developed my Himalayan Pink Salt soap. It was some time after this I discovered some history about my great-grandfather, Robert Julius Willatowski. After his retirement from the German Royal Navy, he and the family moved from Cuxhaven to Wiehl, Germany where he was the director of a SALT WORKS! I was just, like, "Seriously?!" Can you say DESTINY? So... this led me to research the possibility of a traditional German salt soap, and, lo and behold, here enters SOLESEIFE into my life!! The direct translation from German is "brine soap", and traditionally, like Castile soap, is made from sea water. This has inspired me to create my own soleseife (pronounced zoh-luh-zy-fuh), as well as officially change my business name to Tigerlily Soap Works, and it is, hands-down, my new favorite soap! I think, rather than make this post a complete MONSTER, I will write a separate post all about my Soleseife. But, thank you, Great-Grandpa for inspiring me to create something that has so much meaning to me and connection to my ancestors!

I love cutting into a new loaf! Every bar is unique and, even rough cut, is a thing of beauty! Rosemary Mint Soleseife is curing... ready in a couple of weeks!

Just un-molded my newest product! Zero-waste dish soap bar! Environmentally friendly, smells heavenly and will look beautiful next to your kitchen sink! It still needs to cure but will be ready for sale in about 3 weeks!

I also have 2 new batches curing of traditional (1 French, 1 German) sea salt soaps created from Jacobsen's sea salt straight from Netarts Bay, Oregon.
