I hit -110 officially on the scale yesterday. The photos on the right were taken the day I could get my first weigh in on the scale at 401 lbs on Feb 10th. I had already been doing keto for 3 weeks prior, but I have no idea what my starting weight was (probably 20-25 pounds heavier). Anyway, flash forward to today. 110 pounds lighter and feel like a completely different person. The guy on the right couldn’t walk for more than a minute or two without being winded. But there is so much more than health benefits that come from changing your life around with stuff like a proper meal plan and being generally more active. For probably the last 15 years, all I wore were loose fitting golf shirts and whatever baggy pants or shorts that would fit. As you start to feel better, you realize you want to take care of yourself more, and present yourself differently. For example the guy on the right wore a 5XB and a size 50 waist. Today I’m a 2XL (sometimes 2XLT) slim cut with a size 38 pant. Never have I ever really put any thought into what I wear or how my clothes fit, as long as they did. Now it’s actually enjoyable to pick out a new shirt or pair of pants. Try out a different haircut or look. These are things I would have never paid any attention to before. Is it a bit vein, maybe… but I’m ok with that. We all know the work we put in to get to whatever point we are at. It’s ok to take a step back and give yourself a pat on the back. 110 pounds is a LOT of weight to lose in 8 months. ⁣

New vs old drivers license photos after 90 lb weight loss

I was blown away when I got my new license yesterday so I thought I'd share here since it was all thanks to low carb living. These photos were taken 5 years apart but most of the weight loss occurred over a period of about 1.5 years. I was just going to post the photos, but since I have to get to 200 characters for this post not to be auto rejected, I'll just add a few thoughts that may seem pretty cliche. First, low carb living is best viewed as a lifestyle, not a diet. Second, one should strike a balance between self accountability and self forgiveness. There were certainly days where I wasn't on plan, but as I've gotten older I've gotten better about keeping my eye on the long view. As long as the arrow is pointed in the right direction over the long run, a few days off plan don't matter. The key is to not let days turn into weeks or months. Okay, cliched speech over.

Highest recorded weight ever: 286lbs SW260lbs. (Feb of 2020) CW 170lbs.

I have always struggled with my weight. I now weigh less than I did when I was 15 years old. I feel like I have defeated a lifelong nemesis. Losing weight was impossible... until it wasn't.

I had convinced myself of every excuse imaginable. I ate processed garbage and pseudo food look alikes. I listened to the lies that the big food companies spread out there. I listened to the false information from the food pyramid. It wasn't until I started reading and listening about how the human body actually metabolizes food that I made progress.

Everything in life is better. Truly everything. I feel better. I move better. My breathing is better. My seasonal allergies are better. I'm more flexible. My only regret is how long I took to get my act together.

Losing the weight has been the most difficult thing I have ever done in my entire life. But, it is truly worth it and nothing tastes good enough to make me ever go back.

How I did it:

-OMAD: it took me a bit to wean down to one meal a day, but it truly makes things easier. If I do eat lunch, I feel hungrier the rest of the day.

-MyFitnessPal: It's so incredibly important to log food. I had always heard this but, for whatever reason, not done it.

-Severely limit carbs and processed food: I haven't been perfect, but the goal is less than 20g of carbs a day.

-Consistency, consistency, consistency

Honesty with myself: This is truly the most important thing. You can always find a way to cheat, but you're only cheating yourself. If I eat something and don't log it, I'm only lying to myself.

-Air Fryer: Most days, I put chicken, steak, whatever meat in the air fryer. It's simple, fast and the fatty meat is delicious!

YouTube: There are many incredible speakers on YouTube regarding weight loss, keto, fasting and how the human body works. Knowledge truly is power. Some of my favorites are:

Dr. Jason Fung

Dr. Ken Berry

Dr. Robert Lustig

Butter Bob Briggs

Dr. Pradip Jamnadas

The food companies and the pharma companies want us fat, sick and uniformed. The best weapon we have in the fight against obesity is knowledge.

50 LBS lost with keto. 5th attempt. Never give up, you can do this!

I had lost 30 lbs before with keto on my 4th attempt and shared my progress here. Then I fell off the wagon and ballooned up to the heaviest I had ever been as I lost control of my eating habits. I felt sick and defeated. Well I decided to give it my 5th attempt and here I am 50 lbs later! Don’t feel discouraged if you mess up, it’s never too late to start over and put your health first! It doesn’t matter how many times you fail, it’s just a lesson on how to do better next time. Wishing you all great health on your own journey. Don’t give up, just because you fall doesn’t mean you can’t get up and do better next time around!

14 months and 175lbs loss

I was able to lose 175lbs in just over a year doing keto together with Intermittent Fasting and exercise (strength and cardio) every day.

The first 6 months I was exercising for about 30 minutes 4-5 days a week but I loved the way I felt and now workout every day for 45 minutes. I include active recovery days as a workout cause I go on a long 45-50 minute walk and do 20 minute upset body moderate strength.

From February 2019 to September 2019.

Started keto February this year. Before that I was diabetic, I was obese, horrible skin, severe sleep apnea, depression, and food addicted. I hated going out. I would only stay in my room every single day on my phone when I'm not at work or school.
It's been a short journey yet it feels like the old me has been in the past many many years ago. To the point that he never existed.
The first step to a good body transformation is to really love yourself internally then start doing things to love yourself physically. That change with in really is the catalyst.
Thank you so much for this thread that I was able to achieve who I wanted to be.
Stay motivated, stay disciplined, and be kind to yourself.

Hi fellow keto whackos lol

We are a crazy breed. Melting from ketones. Thank you for letting me be in your "cult" I came to share my progress photo I put together last night. I have a long keto journey beginning in 2013 in my 20's. At that time my biggest weight was 276- after losing 100 lbs back then, I quit smoking ci******es, got into a long term relationship, and lived through a pandemic. Needless to say, I gained my weight back and some. Last summer I was 296, 4 lbs away from 300 lbs.

It is no lie all my weight goes straight to my belly. It is mortifying to continually have a FUPA. Last fall, I was able to keto for one month and drop to 276 (20 lbs). I quit keto again. SO, coming in hot at 284, I started Keto AGAIN May 13. Today is June 29th and I am 25.4 lbs down. First goal met, now I have to keep pushing. I wanted to post a progress pic because it is INSANE how my body deflates with keto. I take my weight every morning. I eat less than 20g of carbs a day and stay right at 1200 calories.

My next goals are:

Lose 25 lbs Introduce some exercise into my regimen Eat more veggies

First photo May 1. Second photo yesterday.

Keto transformation.. Over 77LB / 35kg gone, and now a semi athletic body from flabby!!

HI all, hopefully I'm doing this right.,

I'm celebrating 15 months of keto and shredding down to 16.x% bodyfat from well over 30%+

I've gone from wearing 34 size pants to 28 which are now loose.

Calorie intake : initially 1600 per day, however when I started weight training about 3 months ago I've boosted it to 1900 calories

My first ever attempt at getting fit, and I think I'm nailing it! Could never have done it without keto, I went from eating pies and takeaways every day, to learning the value of a calorie, cooking my own food every meal and learning how to be happy with myself.
