Just doing a little color magic today… the low and slow kind.

This is the first round of highlights to break through years of black box dye and bleach. The goal? A softer, more natural, lived-in blonde that feels fresh but still healthy.

We used + 10 volume—because patience = preservation.
in everything to protect and strengthen during the lift.
Toned with 10P + 8N for that creamy, balanced finish.

This is a journey—not a one-and-done transformation. But we’re off to a strong (and shiny) start.

Thanks for following along—I love sharing the real work behind the results!

How to Protect Your Hair Extensions from Heat Damage & Color Fading

If you love heat styling your hair extensions, you need to know how to protect them from damage and color fading. Unlike natural hair, extensions don’t receive oils from the scalp, making them more vulnerable to dryness, heat damage, and tone changes. Here’s what NOT to do—and the best ways to keep them looking flawless!

❌ What NOT to Do:

🚫 Don’t use excessive heat – High temperatures (above 350°F for blondes, 375°F for brunettes) can burn, dry out, or alter the tone of your extensions.
🚫 Don’t skip heat protectant – Heat styling without a thermal protectant weakens the cuticle and leads to split ends.
🚫 Don’t let your extensions air-dry after getting wet – This can cause tangling and frizz. Blow-dry with a round brush
🚫 Don’t use drugstore products – Cheap shampoos with sulfates or alcohol can strip moisture and ruin the extension bonds or wefts.
🚫 Don’t sleep with wet extensions – Always dry them to avoid matting and breakage.

✅ What to Do Instead:

✔ Use a professional heat protectant – Look for one with silicone + keratin to shield your extensions from heat. Apply before blow-drying AND before using hot tools.
✔ Lower the heat setting – Stick to 275-350°F for hot tools to prevent color fading and dryness.
✔ Use a silk or satin pillowcase – Helps prevent friction that can cause tangling and breakage overnight.
✔ Deep condition weekly – Extensions need extra hydration. Use a moisture-rich mask once a week.
✔ Tone with professional products – If your extensions start looking brassy, use a salon-quality purple or blue shampoo, but only on occasion to avoid over-toning.
✔ Use lightweight oils sparingly – A little oil helps keep extensions soft—just avoid the bonds to prevent slipping.

Pro Tip: If you’re styling extensions often, try using a heatless curling method a few days a week to give them a break from hot tools!

✨ 14 inches of love and hope ✨

Today, we had the honor of cutting and donating 14 inches of hair to .for.kids! This amazing organization provides custom, high-quality hairpieces to children who have lost their hair due to medical conditions—completely free of charge. Knowing that this hair will help a child feel more confident and beautiful makes every snip worth it!

If you’ve ever thought about donating your hair, I highly encourage it. A simple haircut can make a life-changing impact!

💇‍♀️ Interested in donating? Here are a few things to keep in mind:
✔️ Hair must be clean, dry, and free of chemical damage.
✔️ A minimum of 12 inches is required for donation.
✔️ Layered hair is okay as long as the longest layer meets the length requirement.

Such a beautiful way to give back!
