DCTC Cosmetology

DCTC Junior cosmetology students are now exploring nail services starting off with basic manicures and pedicures. Just in time for spring! 🌺

Students got to visit Mirror Mirror salon and spa in Cambridge. The owner, Mrs. Danielle, graciously welcomed students with little notice. Not only did she surprise them with a special gift, she shared some of her respected wisdom with our students.
Mrs. Danielle has been a business owner in Cambridge for over 20 years and still going strong. She offers an array of services and has a strong passion for the industry. Students got to see first hand what being your own boss and  owning a private salon looks like.
She has been a partner of our school for many years and has had past students participate in internships. Mrs. Danielle has donated many salon tools, products, and equipment to our school. She is very passionate about education and watching our students grow and become successful.
Thank you so much Mrs. Danielle for always lending such amazing advice to our students and being a strong leader in our community. 🩶

Students met with the owners of Dewdi Spa in Easton. This spa is currently under construction and scheduled to open soon. They recently interviewed students and were kind enough to invite us inside to get a sneak peek of the progress. This gave students a great learning experience seeing firsthand what opening a brand new salon looks like and the hard work that goes into it. Students are invited to their open house and will do some practice runs to possibly become future employees. They even spoiled our students with some healing essential oils. The owners are so kind and generous, and we are grateful for this new, fantastic spa opening soon in Easton.💙

Our students got to explore Ulta in Easton. They were greeted with energy and excitement by their store managers. They learned all about the career opportunities and benefits as a team member. They learned about all the services Ulta offers also. They played some games and won some fantastic prizes. Students were spoiled with samples. Such a great experience. Thank you Ulta for the hospitality and fun!🧡💜🖤🤍🩶

So much fun today at the Easton Sports Clips! Their manager gave our students an amazing tour of their shop. They explained their services and what a typical work day entails. They also got to check out their awesome massage chairs in the shampoo area. They have such an amazing team and we are so grateful for their partnership. The students even left with some goodies! Thank you Sports Clips!!! ❤️🤍🖤

Our friends from Dewdi Spa in Easton came to interview our senior and junior students. Dewdi spa will be opening soon, offering professional spa services. We look forward to working with your team! 🎉

Some coloring transformations!

Fun experience with Pretty in a Minute company. They specialize in creating the newest and innovative tools for cosmetologist. They also offer a ton of educational resources. Thank you PIAM for visiting DCTC!

As we near the end of our hair coloring unit, students use their practical skills to complete highlights on their manikin and each other using different techniques and color’s.

Happy SkillsUSA week and CTE month!
To jumpstart this exciting week, some of our SkillsUSA members used their “Tools for good Tuesday” to volunteer their services at Baywater Animal Rescue.
Our students cleaned food bowls, swept floors, bagged dog food, cleaned litter pans, gave treats, and shared walks with some of Baywaters furry friends.
They got to visit the play area and get some puppy snuggles also.
For some of our students, it was their first visit to Baywater. I think we may have some future volunteers after today’s visit. ✅
Thank you Baywater for accommodating our group and for being such wonderful hosts. We were surprised to see, first hand, all the work that goes into caring for these animals. Cudos to all of Baywaters employees and volunteers. The special attention that each pet receives is wonderful to see. ❤️
