The greatest thing weāve built at Dark Harbor Barber Company isnāt a barbershop. Itās a community.
We are incredibly fortunate to have the most loyal, supportive, and encouraging clients and friends anyone could ask for.
Every recommendation, every review, every comment, every conversation in the shop, and every person who chooses to trust us with their hair has helped build Dark Harbor Barber Company into what it is today.
You all mean the world to us.
In a time when itās easy for businesses to get caught up chasing numbers, likes, followers, and appearances, weād rather stay focused on the things that actually matter: earning your trust, serving our community, and providing the best experience we possibly can every time you walk through our doors.
So today, we just want to make you a promise.
Weāll never lose sight of why weāre here.
Weāll keep showing up, working hard, treating people with kindness and respect, and earning every review, every recommendation, every like and follow, and every client the right way.
Because at the end of the day, our greatest accomplishment isnāt a number on a screen.
Itās the relationships weāve built with the incredible people in this community.
Thank you for believing in us, lifting us up, and allowing us to do what we love every single day.
Quality over hype. Every time.

I had a mom reach out to me this morning... This isn't the first time, but it hits my heart every time.. She explained that her son has autism and she's desperate to find a place that will work with him so he doesn't have to go through the rest of the summer under a head of long and thick hair. He is starting kindergarten in the fall, and hopes he can go to school looking trimmed up properly like all the other kids. She explained to me that she has tried other places and to no fault of the barber/stylist it hasn't gone well... She told me she knows he is tough to deal with but wants him to have the same experiences as other kids, and she isn't prepared to endure a battle with him for a buzz cut in her kitchen. I simply told her that we work with many different kiddos with a whole range of sensory challenges, and that we try to approach haircuts with patience and understanding in a way that feels more fun and silly, and less rushed and stressful. She sighed with relief and booked an appointment for next week. It felt really good to put her at ease, and we look forward to meeting the little dude soon.
Like I said above, our phone call, like the many others I've had, really tugged at my heart strings in a deeply personal way. Some of you know me quite well, others not so much.. but I'm going to share something with you now that I should have shared with her this morning. My son Rory is 4 years old and he has autism. Rory is an amazing boy. He is smart, funny, loving, and kind. Rory is also a challenge.. all kids are, Rory's challenges are just unique to him. I feel that woman's pain.. her anxiety and trepidation around bringing her child into a new environment. Rory was removed from two preschool programs in three months last year. We've been asked to leave events, restaurants, etc. when things haven't gone well. Last year at a family wedding, Rory and I played hide and seek in the basement of a local church during the ceremony to keep him from repeatedly running up and attempting to co officiate the exchanging of the vows. Rory is different, he is special, and I wouldn't change a thing about him. The fact is though, the world doesn't always understand him the way his mom and I do. We are never really certain how other people are going to react to his unique challenges. It can make things difficult, and at times, it can feel very isolating. I know all to well how many times that lady ran through potential worst case scenarios before calling me today...
I guess I wanted to make this post to selfishly get a little of the weight off my heart, and to make the following clear to anyone taking the time to read my words. We love you. Our barbershop is a place where you are welcome NO MATTER who you are. The color of your skin, the type person you're attracted to, the lifestyle you live, the challenges you face and the things that make you unique in this world matter not one bit to us. We WANT to be your barber. We want to get to know you and be your friend. If you can't walk, we will find a way to get you in the chair. If you can't hear well or speak another language, we will find a way to communicate. If you cant sit still for more than 30 seconds then we will offer you the patience to meet you on your terms and give you the cut you deserve. To anyone out there nervous to come to a proper barber for any reason, I'd like to invite you to bring yourself and your challenges with you so we can solve them together and get you looking your best. Thank you guys
-Sam
